At William’s Walk, we are intentional about the partners we align with. We look for people and organizations who are not only leaders in their field, but who truly care about our community and the people in it.

That is why William’s Walk is proud to partner with Maxwell Motorsports & Driving School, a Memphis-based driver education program that is redefining what it means to prepare drivers for the road.

Founded by Max Maxwell, a retired Memphis Police motor officer, the school is built on decades of real-world experience. Over a 27-year career, Max served as a motor officer, instructor, and member of the organized crime unit, and even trained elite units like the FBI Hostage Rescue Team. But what stands out most is not just his experience. It is the way that experience has shaped a program designed to truly prepare drivers for the road.
Maxwell’s approach is rooted in the belief that no two students learn the same way. Through hands-on instruction, simulation training, and real-world driving experience, they focus on building confidence, not just checking a box. Their Differential Driving Program, designed for neurodivergent learners, is filling a gap that has existed in driver education for far too long and is making a meaningful difference for families across Memphis.
This partnership is grounded in a shared belief: safer roads start with better-prepared drivers.

Together, we are proud to introduce Steps to Steering: 901, - A William's Walk + Maxwell Driver Education Scholarship. This scholarship program has been created to provide access to high-quality driver education for Memphis students who may not otherwise have the opportunity. This program is about more than getting a license. It is about creating independence and helping young people move forward safely and confidently.

When we invest in education, we invest in safer streets, stronger families, and a better Memphis.

Some places just feel like they matter the moment you walk in, and Society Memphis is one of those places.

Originally opened in 2018, the skatepark was built from ramps brought up from Hazard County, Georgia and quickly became a gathering place for Memphis’ skate community. When it closed at the end of 2023, it could have been the end of something really special. Instead, it became the start of a new chapter.

Daniel Wallace shared the opportunity with his lifelong friend Will Murray, who grew up skating alongside him. Will had always carried a vision of creating something meaningful for Memphis, a space where skaters and young creatives could come together and grow. With his wife Christina, they poured everything they had into bringing Society Memphis back. After 18 months of hard work, cleaning, fixing, painting, and rebuilding, it reopened and has quickly become a true hub of Memphis energy once again.

This one is especially meaningful to me, because William loved Society. Skateboarding gave him a way to connect with people from all over Memphis, people he may have never met otherwise. It gave him confidence, community, and a place where he felt like he belonged. Society was a part of that.

We are so grateful to not only partner with Society Memphis, but to host William's Walk 2026 there. It feels incredibly fitting to gather in a place that meant something to William and continues to create that same sense of connection for others.

It is more than a skatepark. It is a space where people come together, where friendships are built, and where community grows.

If you have not been yet, I hope you will stop by and see it for yourself.
