The 5th Annual Sovereign Grand Commanders’ Summit stands as a testament to the enduring strength of our Brotherhood and our shared commitment to the continued advancement of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Prince Hall Affiliation.

As Sovereign Grand Commanders gather in a spirit of unity, cooperation and mutual respect, we reaffirm the principles of Masonic regularity that bind our Supreme Councils together. Through open dialogue, fellowship and the exchange of ideas, we strengthen the ties that unite us while preserving the traditions, practices and integrity of our Rite.

The Summit is more than a meeting—it is an investment in the future of the Scottish Rite in America. By working collectively, we ensure the continued propagation of the Scottish Rite, developing informed leaders, expanding our charitable impact and inspiring the next generation of Brethren to embrace the light, lessons and labor of our beloved Order.

May the bonds forged during this Summit continue to strengthen our jurisdictions, elevate our mission and demonstrate that when we labor together in harmony, the Scottish Rite flourishes for generations to come.

Unity. Cooperation. Regularity. Propagation.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors and father figures throughout our United Supreme Council family.

Today, we honor the men who have accepted the sacred responsibility of fatherhood—those who lead not merely by their words, but by their examples. A father’s greatest legacy is not measured by what he leaves behind, but by the values he instills: faith, integrity, discipline, compassion and an unwavering commitment to family and community.

As Scottish Rite Masons, we recognize that the virtues we seek to perfect within our Craft are the same virtues that strengthen our homes. The lessons of patience, wisdom, justice, and brotherly love taught within our Fraternity are reflected in the guidance, protection and sacrifice demonstrated by devoted fathers every day.

We especially acknowledge those fathers who continue to serve as beacons of strength during times of challenge and those who carry the cherished memories of children who are no longer physically present but forever remain in their hearts.

May this Father’s Day be a time of reflection, appreciation and joy. May the Great Architect of the Universe continue to bless all fathers with wisdom, health, and the strength to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Fraters:

On this sacred occasion of Juneteenth, we pause as a Fraternity and as a people to commemorate the announcement of freedom to the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. This day stands as a powerful reminder that the journey from bo***ge to freedom was not merely a moment in history, but the beginning of an enduring struggle to secure justice, dignity, equality and opportunity for all.

As Prince Hall Masons and Scottish Rite Masons, we are heirs to a legacy of men who transformed adversity into achievement and who understood that true freedom requires knowledge, civic engagement, moral courage and an unwavering commitment to the betterment of humanity. The same spirit that sustained our forefathers through oppression calls upon us today to be vigilant guardians of liberty, truth and brotherly love.

Juneteenth is both a celebration and a charge. It celebrates the resilience, excellence, and contributions of African Americans whose labor and sacrifice helped build this nation. It also charges us to continue the work of enlightenment—educating our communities, protecting our institutions, mentoring future generations and ensuring that the rights won through sacrifice are never diminished through complacency.

May we honor those who came before us not only through remembrance, but through action. Let our deeds reflect the highest ideals of our Rite, and let the United Supreme Council continue to stand as a beacon of leadership, scholarship, service and progress.

On behalf of the leadership of the United Supreme Council - Southern Jurisdiction, we wish each of you and your families a meaningful and reflective Juneteenth.

“The work of freedom is never complete; it is entrusted to each generation to carry it forward.”

Fraternally and sincerely,

Corey D. Hawkins, Sr., 33°
Sovereign Grand Commander

Fraters, Loyal Ladies and Friends:

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. As members of the Prince Hall Scottish Rite family, we understand that liberty is never free; it is bought with a price.

Today, we look back with deep gratitude at the heroes who stood in the gap for our nation. We remember the trailblazers, the members of our communities, and our own Masonic brothers who answered the call of duty, never to return. Their bravery is the foundation upon which our daily peace is built.

We are reminded of the sacred wisdom in Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. " The legendary giants of our history did not walk alone; they sharpened the resolve, character, and courage of everyone around them, forging a legacy that time cannot erode.

In a special way, we call to remembrance our fallen brother, Navy Information Systems Technician First Class Johnnie L. Doctor Jr.. A dedicated 14-year veteran and Prince Hall Mason, Brother Doctor made the ultimate sacrifice at the age of 32 at the Pentagon during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. His selfless service, love for his country, and dedication to our fraternity serve as a powerful beacon of what it means to give "the last full measure of devotion."

We also honor the monumental legacy of Brigadier General Roscoe C. Cartwright, 33°, a giant in both our military history and our fraternal order. A veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, General Cartwright broke barriers as one of the first African American generals in the United States Army. As a dedicated 33rd Degree Prince Hall Mason, his tragic passing in 1974 did not dim his light. His life's work of mentorship, leadership, and service continues to guide military officers and Masonic brothers to this day, truly sharpening the blades of future leaders.

Furthermore, we remember the immortal courage of Brother Medgar Evers, a World War II Army veteran who survived the battlefields of Europe only to sacrifice his life on the front lines of the American Civil Rights Movement. As a dedicated 32nd Degree Prince Hall Scottish Rite Mason, Brother Evers proved that the fight for freedom is fought both abroad and at home. His assassination in 1963 reminded us all that the cost of justice is high, but the edge he put on the sword of civil rights remains unyielding.

Let us do more than just remember their names. Let us live in a way that honors the legacy of heroes like Brother Doctor, General Cartwright, and Brother Evers. Let us continue to sharpen one another in our councils, our consistories, and our daily lives— lifting up our communities, protecting the vulnerable, and maintaining the principles of justice, truth, and brotherly love.

May the Great Architect of the Universe comfort the families of all our fallen heroes. Let us keep their memories alive in our hearts and in our actions. May God bless our Order, and may God bless the memories of our fallen soldiers.

Fraternally,

Dr. Corey D. Hawkins, Sr., 33°
