Yesterday, Urban Promise 901 hosted our Student Academic Achievement Luncheon bringing Memphis youth face-to-face with judges, attorneys, civic leaders, and Memphis Mayor Paul Young.

When students gain access to professional spaces early, it changes long-term outcomes. Prevention begins with exposure.

We are proud to serve students across multiple Memphis zip codes, including 38127, connecting them to mentorship, leadership development, and real career pathways.

Strategic investment in young people is not charity, it is public safety and economic development.

We’re just getting started.

It was an honor to be recognized by the WREG News Channel 3 Bright Spot. We exist to support children to be their best!

Today was one of those days that reminds us why we do this work. 💙

Because of the generosity of community partners and volunteers who showed up with open hearts and willing hands, over 100 food boxes were prepared and will go home with children and families who need them most.

Each box represents more than food.

It represents dignity, care, and the message every child deserves to hear: You matter. You’re not forgotten.

At Urban Promise 901, our mission is to walk alongside young people and families, meeting immediate needs while helping students dream beyond their circumstances. Today was a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to love our kids well.

🎉 Urban Promise 901 – Student Success Luncheon 🎉

Today was beautiful.
Urban Promise 901 hosted our New Student Mentee Success Luncheon, honoring exceptional 5th–8th grade students who are new to UP901 from our inner-city partner schools—young people who are shining academically and showing strong leadership in their schools and communities.

Seeing the room filled with families, counselors, teachers, and students enjoying a meal together was powerful. The smiles, the laughter, and the moments of pride captured today speak for themselves. 💙✨

A very special thank you to Guthrie’s and Lorrie Flowers for providing an incredible lunch spread. You went above and beyond, and every single child left full and happy!

We also want to express our gratitude to the schools that selected and sent their Top 20 students:
Dunbar Elementary, Hanley Elementary, Getwell Elementary, South Park Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, Sherwood Middle School, and American Way Middle School.
Your support makes events like this possible, and together we are building stronger pathways for our youth.

Urban Promise 901 is committed to empowering students, uplifting families, and shaping futures—and today was another step forward in that mission.

Saturday sessions are creative, vibrant, and engaging. Thinking outside of the box helps our young people imagine pathways to become the successful young adults who reach back into the community and impact it for better. 🙌🏾 to Rhodes College BSA and NPHC for joining in with our teen break out groups today! We aren't new to it, we're true to it.

UP 901 mentees were placed into groups of 6 today and had a challenge:

“Create a 2-minute skit showing why mentorship is important OR a challenge teens face today.”

The groups acted out short skits (serious or funny).

Each group had a chance to Debrief with the other groups:
Every skit showed real situations you face—mentorship is about walking through these things together and finding better choices!
