The Astronaut Trail Shell Club, founded in 1966, meets monthly for presentations, outings, & crafts dedicated to learning and sharing their knowledge of shells found in oceans, freshwater, and land.

Astronaut Trail Shell Club meeting is Wednesday 9/2

Looking forward to seeing both current & future members at our first meeting of the season! All are welcome to join.

If you are a current member with a name badge, please be sure to wear it! Also plan to bring any shells that you found over the summer or crafts that you made. Its "Shell & Tell" time! See you there.

REMINDER our NEXT monthly crafting event – Monday, AUG. 17, 2026 (1-3pm)

Location: Suntree
Date/Time: Monday August 17th, from 1-3pm

Project: Your choice of Sea turtle art (Examples attached)

We will bring:
Some sand dollars to share, Assorted paints, Rinse cups for paint brushes, Seaglass to share

Suggested Materials List:
Small canvas (square or rectangle), Sand dollars, Small shells for turtle bodies, legs and tails, Acrylic paints & brush, Hot glue gun, Glass baubles, Sea glass

Photos from July's clay shell building projects. Some members finished previous projects while some members just got started on their first ones. Everyone shared supplies and molds and had a great afternoon catching up!

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club—
Mark your calendars for our NEXT monthly crafting event – Monday, JULY 20th, 2026

This will be our 2nd event using seashell clay molds and glass vessels. It was so much fun the first time, we decided to do it again! Everyone helped each other and shared molds. We will continue to build on what we learned in May. I will text a suggested materials list July 1st to the crafting group.

If you like to craft, and love seashells, please plan to join us. And if you are not yet a member, leave a comment below and we will connect with you.

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club's May 2026 outing was to The Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville which houses one of the WORLD'S LARGEST mollusk collections, totaling over 3 million specimens and 750,000+ lots of shells!

Thank you to Humberto for sharing these photos from the clubs tour of the facility.

Club outings will resume in September 2026 once we resume our monthly meetings. Reminder: No meetings in June, July, August.

The FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute - Pontoon Boat Tour on a floating laboratory boat.

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club-

We love seashells, river and ocean treasures. We love our outings and sharing where we go and what we found. Our club inspires and welcomes new members monthly, always eager to hear about their hobbies and determining how we can help.

Ed Perry joined us for the April club meeting. He graciously gave us a thoroughly engaging and educational presentation on Sea Beans. Wow, now we are excited to plan an outing to search for them! Thank you Ed!

In April, club members showed their shelling tools, shared their shelling finds, and presented recent craft projects… always inspiring.

As always, our club meetings include a beautiful seashell Door Prize, 10+ Raffle items, and our exciting Live Auction. 🙌🙂

Want to join? Come to our monthly club meetings. Meetings run from September through May, then we have a summer hiatus.
