The Astronaut Trail Shell Club, founded in 1966, meets monthly for presentations, outings, & crafts dedicated to learning and sharing their knowledge of shells found in oceans, freshwater, and land.

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club's May 2026 outing was to The Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville which houses one of the WORLD'S LARGEST mollusk collections, totaling over 3 million specimens and 750,000+ lots of shells!

Thank you to Humberto for sharing these photos from the clubs tour of the facility.

Club outings will resume in September 2026 once we resume our monthly meetings. Reminder: No meetings in June, July, August.

The FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute - Pontoon Boat Tour on a floating laboratory boat.

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club-

We love seashells, river and ocean treasures. We love our outings and sharing where we go and what we found. Our club inspires and welcomes new members monthly, always eager to hear about their hobbies and determining how we can help.

Ed Perry joined us for the April club meeting. He graciously gave us a thoroughly engaging and educational presentation on Sea Beans. Wow, now we are excited to plan an outing to search for them! Thank you Ed!

In April, club members showed their shelling tools, shared their shelling finds, and presented recent craft projects… always inspiring.

As always, our club meetings include a beautiful seashell Door Prize, 10+ Raffle items, and our exciting Live Auction. 🙌🙂

Want to join? Come to our monthly club meetings. Meetings run from September through May, then we have a summer hiatus.

The Astronaut Trail Shell Club-
Our March Outing: Shelling at Matanzas Inlet

It’s a beautiful scenery location with large sand bars. Enthusiasts walk through shallow water to reach the sand bar, then continue through another section of water to reach the breakers. Truly beautiful!
The weather was perfect for an afternoon of shelling in negative low tide. Yes, we had fun.
Then off to a delicious BBQ place on the river just minutes away. A definite must go.
