🌊🌱 CELEBRATING OUR INDIAN RIVER LAGOON! 🐟🦀🦩
Today, LagoonLife is out at Indian River Lagoon Fest 2026 at Front Street Park in Melbourne, celebrating one of Florida's greatest natural treasures the Indian River Lagoon! 💙
What a wonderful opportunity to connect with the incredible organizations, scientists, educators, businesses, volunteers, and community members who share a passion for protecting and preserving our lagoon!
🌎 Good stewardship begins with understanding.
The more we learn about the natural world around us, the better equipped we become to make informed decisions about how we live, work, and play within our environment.
From water quality and wildlife conservation to native plants, sustainable landscaping, responsible fishing, and reducing pollution, every conversation is an opportunity to learn something new and become a better steward of the place we call home.
🐟 Today's festival is a wonderful example of conservation through community!
We're seeing kids learning to fish responsibly with Anglers for Conservation, families discovering the incredible wildlife that calls our lagoon home, local businesses sharing their products, and environmental organizations helping residents understand how everyday decisions influence the health of our waterways.
A special thank you to the many organizations participating and sharing their knowledge, including One Lagoon, Lagoon Loyal, Marine Resources Council, Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program, Florida Native Plant Society, Brevard Zoo's Restore Our Shores, Keep Brevard Beautiful, Florida Wildlife Hospital, Brevard County Natural Resources, Anglers for Conservation, the City of Melbourne, and so many others!
These organizations remind us that protecting the lagoon isn't the responsibility of any one person or group. It takes a community working together, sharing knowledge, asking questions, and turning understanding into action.
🌱 Plant native plants. 💧 Reduce stormwater pollution. 🐬 Respect wildlife and their habitats. 🎣 Practice responsible fishing. ♻️ Reduce waste and single-use plastics. 🤝 Support local conservation organizations. 📚 Keep learning and share what you discover!
You don't have to be a scientist to make a difference. You just have to care enough to learn and act.
Our Indian River Lagoon is more than a body of water. It's an extraordinary living ecosystem, a source of recreation and livelihood, a classroom, and a connection between our communities and the natural world.
