We hope to see you tonight for our first showing!! Special thanks to Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard - West Melbourne, FL for allowing us the space to perform!

We are thrilled to host The Free Theatre of Brevard all weekend. Check out "Down in Mississippi" by Carlyle Brown. Four performances, Friday 2/20 at 8pm - Saturday 2/21 2pm and 8pm - Sunday 2/22 at 2pm. They will also share more about their organization at our Sunday Service The Free Theater of Brevard - Discussion at 11am on Sunday. There are no tickets, just come at support this wonderful organization. Donations are accepted at the door. Please note this play is about voter registration in Mississippi during 1964 civil rights era. Language appropriate to the time will be said during this performance. We hope to see you this weekend at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard - West Melbourne, FL

ABOUT DOWN IN MISSISSIPPI—“Down in Mississippi” is a powerful play by Carlyle Brown, written in 2008. Three college students – a black man, a white woman, and a white man—travel to the dangerous world of Mississippi in 1964 to register Negro voters. Along the way, they discover that before they can change the world, they will have to change themselves. “Down in Mississippi” is a celebration of a movement that gave birth to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. It blends historical context, gospel songs, and intense drama to explore the racial tensions of Freedom Summer. The themes deal with civil rights, racial tension, courage, and historical reckoning.
