“When the mind perceives that the environment is safe and supportive, the cells are preoccupied with the growth and maintenance of the body. In stressful situations, cells forego their normal growth functions and adopt a defensive “protection” posture. The body’s energy resources normally used to sustain growth are diverted to systems that provide protection during periods of stress. Simply put, growth processes are restricted or suspended in a stressed system. While our systems can accommodate periods of acute (brief) stress, prolonged or chronic stress is debilitating for its energy demands and interferes with the required maintenance of the body. As a consequence, this leads to dysfunction and disease.” – Bruce H. Lipton, PhD

Emerging understandings of epigenetics, subconscious programming, stress, and early attachment suggest that our beliefs, perceptions, and early relational experiences profoundly shape both our biology and lifelong patterns of behavior and health.

“Chiropractors help improve normal alignment and function in the spine. They help to re-establish the proper neurological connection between the brain and body. And they help increase your innate ability to purposefully organize your body to better adapt to the stresses of your environment. If you are in a state of ‘dis-ease,’ chiropractic can help you regain ‘ease’ and ideal function. Chiropractors help you do this by applying a series of specific forces called adjustments.” – Stamatis V. Tsamoutalidis, DC

🌿 Keep reading “Vertebral Subluxation” by Stamatis V. Tsamoutalidis, DC from Issue 77 of Pathways to better understand the philosophy behind chiropractic care, how subluxations may impact overall well-being, and why so many families incorporate regular adjustments into their life.

There’s a beautiful twist in this line, the kind life pulls on all of us eventually.

We start out thinking joy is something that happens to us—like weather, or luck, or finding a hundred dollar bill on the sidewalk. Then we wake up one day, a little wiser, a little more seasoned, and realize joy isn’t an event at all. It’s a posture. A way of showing up.

Service, gets a bad rap. It sounds like chores, or obligation, or the kind of thing people put on résumés to look noble. But the secret Tagore slips in—quietly, is that service isn’t about martyrdom. It’s about resonance. It’s the moment you stop trying to impress the world and start trying to lift it.

And here’s the interesting point to appreciate: when you serve from that place—heart first, ego off to the side—you don’t shrink. You shine. You become the kind of person whose presence feels like sunlight and whose absence is noticed not because you demanded attention, but because you made things better simply by being there.

Joy, then, isn’t the prize at the end of the race. It’s the glow that rises when your actions match your purpose. When your life stops being a performance and becomes a contribution. When you realize that giving yourself away doesn’t diminish you—it multiplies you.

That’s the kind of math the soul understands instinctively. And never, EVER falls into the negative!

Now go create a fabulous day!

“The beauty of fathering during pregnancy is that these moments are not only felt during that time in the womb, but those treasured experiences also become a part of their core subconscious fabric for the rest of their lives. They can provide a positive foundation of love, caring, and mutuality. Not only does fathering give this gift to your baby, but you are gifted into becoming more of who you truly are as a person and a father. If these notions of the conscious and capable multidimensional baby are new to you, I suggest beginning with a conscious intention of welcoming, wanting, and intuitively developing your personal relationship with your baby in the womb. Communicate with them and have the intention to be sensitive to their communication with you.” – Wendy Anne McCarty, PhD

Babies are conscious, relational beings from preconception onward, and early parent–child connection—especially through engaged, intentional fathering during pregnancy—can profoundly shape a child’s development and sense of safety.

“When we diminish symptoms with Tylenol, ibuprofen, decongestants or antibiotics, at the same time we diminish the healing, cleansing, expulsive power of our innate immune systems.

It follows that repeated use of such drugs cools down the acute, hot inflammatory response of our innate immune system, thus increasing our tendency to allergies, asthma and other cool, chronic inflammations.” – Philip Incao, MD

Fevers are a natural and intelligent immune response that helps children detoxify, strengthen immune resilience, and support long-term wellness rather than simply being symptoms to suppress.

“Many of us today are relying desperately on authorities to make our choices and to solve our problems, without even knowing it. The authority may be another human being, a role model, a doctor, or a spiritual guru…or it may be an internal concept, philosophy or book that tells us what to think or do. We are guided by these authorities to tell us to ‘trust nature,’ or ‘trust the science,’ but when we are faced with the question ‘what should I do,’ we are bound to think and depend on these internal and external authorities for the answer, without seeing another way. And in that state, our hopes may slowly dissolve in a prolonged sense of waiting…often with an element of perpetual desperation.

‘The Conscious Choice,’ that call for something greater, represents a shift. It brings us from the question, what ‘should’ I do (where our thinking revolves around those who ‘know best’) to the far more relevant and inspiring question: what can ‘I do’ in this moment, for myself, my family, my community.” – John Ohm

Conscious parenting and conscious living are less about finding the “right” answer and more about cultivating presence, self-trust, and the ability to respond intentionally rather than react from fear or dependence on outside authority.

“Except for the spine, the foot is the anatomical region which contains the most proprioceptive sensory receptors. These are distinctive nerve circuits which affect numerous aspects of brain and neurological development. Because of this magnitude of sensory input, natural, unrestricted movement of the feet is vital for overall neurological well-being.” – Jeanne Ohm, DC

A baby’s feet are designed for natural movement, and allowing them to move freely through barefoot time or flexible shoes may support not only healthy foot development, but also balance, coordination, and neurological development.

05/20/2026

“While it is difficult to identify exactly what causes dystocia, there are three main reasons why the birth process can fail to progress, which often leads to medical intervention. Broadly speaking, dystocia is caused by a combination of physical, emotional and medical/ technical causes.

While mothers have been birthing naturally for millennia, one of the greatest challenges in the West is restoring an innate trust in a woman’s ability to birth in a natural way. Many social and medical pressures can insidiously increase fear and anxiety around the birthing process. But pregnancy isn’t an illness or a disease, so we believe that it shouldn’t be treated like one. To do so only adds emotional stress and strain to bodies and minds that should be peaceful, joyful and well-connected to their world, their friends, their families and their babies.” – Julie Day, M.Chiro

A connected, supported, and trusting mother is far more likely to experience a peaceful and physiologically natural birth, while fear and chronic stress can interfere with the body’s innate birthing processes and contribute to unnecessary interventions.

By supporting the nervous system, reducing fear, and honoring the body’s inherent intelligence, pregnancy and birth can become less about control and more about creating the conditions for the body to do what it was beautifully designed to do. “The scene: I was working diligently at the computer in my home office when my 2.5-year-old daughter, Willow, approached my desk and grabbed a pile of 4×6-inch photos that I had carelessly left within her reach. These pictures of our older daughter and a friend had been sent to us by the friend’s mother, and replacing the pictures would have been inconvenient if not impossible.

Given Willow’s developmental stage—where ‘looking’ at the pictures might include folding, ripping, and coloring them—I reacted from fear and stood up from my desk to rescue the photos from the wild-child!

Sensing that I was about to thwart her will, she quickly toddled to the other side of the house. When I caught up to her, she realized she was cornered, and she half-cowered against the wall. She looked as if she half-believed that her will alone would stop me from using my superior size and strength to remove the photos from her possession.” – Scott Noelle

Sometimes the most powerful parenting moments happen when we pause our instinct to control, soften into connection, and truly see the child beneath the behavior. When children feel safe, seen, and respected instead of overpowered, moments of resistance can transform into opportunities for trust, emotional regulation, and deeper connection.
