2024 USD 418 SCHOOL SUPPLY PICK UP
Kindergarten - 5th Grade | School Supply Train
Is your child enrolled in an elementary school in the USD 418 district? Are they also enrolled in the free/reduced meal plan? If so, they can receive FREE school supplies through the McPherson School Supply Train!

Distribution will be held at McPherson High School, 801 E. First St., in the Activity Center/Commons (the large open area before you enter the Round House). Stop by on Thursday, August 1st, from 10 am to 7 pm with your kids for a shopping experience and to collect your child's FREE supplies.

6th - 8th Grade | MMS Supply Closet
If your child is a student at the McPherson Middle School and enrolled in the free/reduced meal plan? If so, they can receive FREE school supplies through the MMS Supply Closet.

Schedule a time to pick up supplies through your child's school counselor between now and the beginning of school. Call the MMS office at (620) 241-9450 or email them directly.

If so, then they are eligible to receive FREE school supplies through the McPherson School Supply Train! (A local non-profit organization providing free school supplies since 1994.) Distribution will be set up at the McPherson High School, 801 E. First St., in the Activity Center/Commons (the Large open area before you enter the Round House). Stop by Friday, August 5th from 4 pm – 7 pm OR Saturday, August 6th from 9 am – 12 pm with your kids for a shopping experience to collect your child’s FREE supplies.

A common misconception among those that choose not to take advantage of the free supplies is they worry they would be taking from another family. That is not the case at all. Every year we have more than enough supplies. If your kids are eligible, please stop by and take advantage of this great opportunity.

With a majority of parents enrolling their students online, it has become more difficult to get the word out. Please feel free to “SHARE” this post. It is our goal to reach as many families as possible so their children can benefit from this opportunity.

The McPherson Middle School Supply Closet, a brainchild of the School Supply Train committee, is no longer an idea but a reality thanks to the coordinating efforts of the 2020 McPherson Leadership Class.

Leadership McPherson is a professional development program of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce to develop effective leadership, open minds to perspectives that surround issues facing our community and enable participants to become more visionary leaders. The 2020 Leadership Class approached the School Supply Train interested in helping bring school supplies to those in need. The class was then introduced to the idea of focusing their efforts to purchase school supplies to 6th-8th graders, an age group that the School Supply Train was unable to reach because of their current efforts being focused on Kindergarden-5th grade students in the 418-school district.

The Leadership McPherson Class knew the initial purchase of the supplies for the closet would be large, but it was made possible by the incredibly generous donations from the McPherson community and the First United Methodist Church members. The 2020 McPherson Leadership Class raised over $7,000 since announcing their goal to bring the Supply Closet to the McPherson Middle School in November 2020! The First United Methodist Church Committee, who sat in the first meetings with the McPherson Middle School to discuss the idea of a supply closet, raised $6,000 from donations from their church members!

With the supplies purchased, all teachers and counselors at the McPherson Middle School will be equipped with supplies for their students who need supplies at the beginning and during the 2021-2022 school year. The 2020 McPherson Leadership Class is excited to see this initiative carried on for years to come.
