We’re back! FREE-Syria is happy to announce that we are resuming operations.

Next month, we will conduct a needs assessment in Syria, plan to register in Damascus, and identify initiatives that promote our core pillars of education and equality.

Syria’s rebuilding effort needs us all to participate, and we at FREE-Syria are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Meet Nadeen, Nahid and Ghassan and Mohamad, newly-arrived Syrian refugees to Washington, DC. FREE-Syria's volunteers and co-founder, Salwa Al Dakheel, have been assisting the families with coping to the new reality in the new country, as well as with finding jobs and enrolling in schools. Tell them they're welcome home.

Just like many of us, one local viewer wanted to know what it's like to be a refugee.

With the support of wonderful partners and warm local community, FREE-Syria helped raise enough funds to help refugee families purchase three cars so they can commute to work more efficiently. ​

Because of wonderful supporters and tireless volunteers, FREE-Syria has been successful in helping refugees​ to find jobs by creating professional networks, preparing resumes, and spreading the word about available employment candidates.

A huge thank you to all those who attended (or contributed to) the beautiful fundraiser for Al-Salam School at the Abaza-Fraga residence! Your contributions got us to about $3,800 in a single evening - enough to keep 38 children in school for the whole year! We're still raising funds and it's not too late to help more kids!

Special thanks to Nesrin and Mauricio, as well as their kids, for hosting and caring so much.

This is saddening: Forced Out of Italian Town after Locals Block Streets.

A small group of refugee women and children were forced to leave a town in northern Italy after locals barricaded the road chanting “we don’t want them here”. The town of Gorino in Ferrara was asked to accommodate 12 women, one of whom was pregnant, and eight minors who were with them.
