We would like to thank our SRO, Dallas Barnes, for all she does to keep MES safe! She is always willing to help wherever needed. She loves interacting with the students and makes a point to turn situations into a learning opportunity as much as possible. We appreciate you everyday, not just SRO Appreciation Day!

✨Officer Spotlight✨

During Black History Month, the McGehee Police Department is proud to recognize Sergeant Darius Barnes for his dedication, leadership, and service to our community.

Sgt. Barnes joined the McGehee Police Department in November 2021 and graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) in April 2022. Within his first two years, he was promoted to Corporal — a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

In May 2024, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), where he continued to demonstrate professionalism and leadership. In May 2025, he was promoted to Sergeant, and since October 2025, he has proudly served as the supervisor of CID.

Sgt. Barnes is known not only for his leadership within CID, but also for stepping up to assist other divisions whenever there is a need — often before being asked. His willingness to serve wherever he is needed reflects his character and dedication to the department and the community.

Outside of work, Sgt. Barnes enjoys spending time with his wife, Dallas, and their son, Maverick. He also enjoys firing up the grill and working with his hands in his downtime.

We thank Sgt. Barnes for his continued service and for the example he sets each day.

🚨 NOTICE: SPEED LIMIT CHANGE 🚨

🛑 15 MPH SCHOOL ZONE 🛑

The posted speed limit on Seamans Street and Oak Street
between Fourth Street and Jefferson Street
has been reduced from 25 MPH to 15 MPH

⏰ During School Traffic Hours Only:
• 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
• 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

This change is in place to help ensure the safety of students, staff, and pedestrians during school arrival and dismissal times.

🚓 Law enforcement will be strictly enforcing this speed limit change.

⚠️ Please slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our school zones safe.

We gathered this evening to watch two brothers in the Mcgehee jail get baptized. Yes! Outside! The water was warm, the air wasn’t but they were eager to take that step.

Our McGehee Police Department had an incredible day hosting our annual Shop with A Cop event! 🎄🚓

Children from McGehee Schools were selected to spend the day Christmas shopping with our officers, thanks to the generous donations from our community, including Walmart, to the McGehee Police Foundation.

The morning kicked off with donuts at the station, followed by a festive police car parade to Walmart, and wrapped up with big smiles and holiday shopping fun. It was truly a wonderful day of joy, laughter, and community spirit! ❤️🌟🎄 City of McGehee Police Department
