A few people have asked who I am, the voice behind this page, and why this mission means so much to me.

My name is Lori. I’m blessed to be a Mammie to an amazing little boy whose smile lights up every room and who carries part of my son’s name. I’m also the mother of four incredible children, one of whom now lives in Heaven.

I am a Gold Star ⭐️ Mom—a title no parent ever hopes to receive. It means I lost my son, Kole, while he was serving our country on active duty in the United States Coast Guard.

Kole Kendall, Maritime Enforcement Specialist, Petty Officer Third Class (USCG), lived a life rooted in service. He had a gift for helping others, making people feel seen while possibly feeling as though he was invisible, and leaving every place better than he found it. The impact he made continues to ripple through the lives of those who knew him.

Today, my husband, our children, dedicated friends and volunteers, and I work to carry that legacy forward through the Anchored Navigation Project. We support active-duty service members, veterans, and military families facing the difficult realities of mental health struggles, crisis, or loss. We also walk alongside families who suddenly find themselves where I did one Friday in February—shocked, terrified, heartbroken, and unsure where to turn.

We do this work not because we have to, and certainly not for recognition. We do it because it keeps Kole’s legacy alive. We do it because kindness can change a life. We do it because communities need to know that su***de can touch anyone, and that awareness, education, and support matter. Most of all, we do it because if sharing our story helps even one person find hope, seek help, or avoid walking this unimaginable path, then Kole’s light continues to shine.

Thank you for being here, for following along, and for supporting a mission born from profound loss but driven by even greater love. ❤️
