Come join the Mount Shasta Mycological Society June 14th at 10:00 am where we will wander the beautiful landscapes of Sattitla Highlands to document as many species of wildlife that we can find using the iNaturalist app. While our primary focus will be fungi, we encourage documentation of all lifeforms encountered - plants, animals, lichens, and everything in between. This is a community building activity, and all levels of knowledge are welcome. Come support our mission to inspire the community about the fascinating world of fungi and their cohabitants.

Space is limited to 25 participants.

We kindly suggest a donation of $10 - $20 which can be accepted in cash or online donation page here: https://mountshastaecology.charityproud.org/Donate/Index/42143

Learning mushroom identification can seem like a monumental task, especially when you're still green and don't understand all the fancy anatomical terminology and such. Have you found yourself skimming picture by picture in your guide, trying to match your mystery mushroom to one of hundreds? We've been there, and that is why we are excited to have a fresh batch of Mushrooms of Cascadia by Michael Beug available at our booth this weekend. Mr. Beug wrote a concise and easy to follow key that starts you off with some basic mushroom shapes and leads you, question by question, eliminating dead ends and leading you to the identity of your mushroom - a process that actually helps you pay attention to the subtle details of your specimen. This book is 350 pages, yet it's loaded with 3,000 species! This guide is great for beginners and seasoned mushroom identifiers alike. Come get your copy this weekend, and check out our other cool Mount Shasta Myco Merch!

Hello mushroom people! We are getting ready for the McCloud Mushroom Festival this coming Memorial Day Weekend and we could use your help. If you are out and about searching for mushrooms a day or two before the festival, please bring us your mushroom finds for our Identification table AKA The Mushroom Petting Zoo. We know it's getting dry, but if you go high (6,000ft and up) and find the microclimates, there is a good chance of finding some fresh specimens.

Be sure to get the entire mushroom, stem and all, so we can properly identify and label it for the table.
If in good condition, they should be fine in your refrigerator for a day or three leading up to the festival.

Also, if you are knowledgeable about mushroom identification and would like to volunteer time slots at our identification table, please reach out. We would love to have a variety of talent present throughout the event.

If you feel the pull to be of service to your myco community in any other capacity, for the festival or beyond, feel free to send us a message as well.

Come see our booth right in front of the historic McCloud mercantile building Saturday and Sunday.

We look forward to seeing you there.
