You may have noticed our profile images change across platforms last spring. On the coldest morning of the fall so far in Valley County, it feels like a fitting day to officially unveil our logo. Last month, IDL, USFS, and United Payette held public meetings to present info on the potential Payette Lake land exchange. There are links in our bio to learn more about the exchange.

The land exchange has the potential to improve recreation access around Payette Lake, including winter recreation access.

The land exchange also has the potential to transfer USFS land to the north and south of Tamarack resort to IDL, which could impact backcountry ski access in those areas.

In the recent WCUA survey, 35% of respondents utilize the terrain adjacent to Tamarack resort for backcountry skiing. This is one of only a few easy access points in the county.

The land exchange is still in its beginning stages and the public has an opportunity to comment and make a difference. Please take this opportunity via the links in our bio to submit a comment to IDL and/or United Payette re: your feelings on this potential impact on backcountry skiing. Thank you!!

The FPAC is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join and lead our Board of Directors as President/Chair of the Board. As the leader of this board, you will help shape the future of avalanche safety and education and support the PAC by driving fundraising efforts and organizing engaging community events. FPAC is an all-volunteer organization with no paid Executive Director. The Board President therefore serves as both the chief governance leader and the primary volunteer executive — setting strategic direction, leading operations between board meetings, and serving as the organization’s principal point of contact with the USFS, partner organizations, and the public. This is a working leadership role with a meaningful time investment, particularly during the winter season.

⚠️Off Season Uphill Travel⚠️
For those looking to earn their turns this off season, please check the Uphill Travel Policy daily for access availability. It is our goal to begin spring projects while allowing uphill travelers. Help us keep everyone safe by sticking to designated areas and being aware that machinery and equipment will be operating on the mountain. There are no emergency services available in the off season, so please call 911 in the event of an emergency.
