'Cuevas says these activities let the students see they “make important decisions every day.” Bloom RGV wants young students to think seriously and be aware of all of the barriers that are in place in Texas and in the RGV that they can face as youth of this region. “We let them know that although there are these barriers, there are people like our organization and others that we work with that are there to help,” she said.'

We had a great time talking to voters and supporting Voces Unidas RGV at their beautiful Convergence Art Exhibition. 🌀

Artists shared their pieces from the Water Bonds: Arroyo Colorado Project. There is so much to be learned from these artist conservationists who are committed to preserving the native fauna and flora of the Rio Grande Valley. 🌱

Thankful for sharing this space and for continued conversation on how art can drive us to action within our communities.

Why do we work in the RGV? (Besides the obvious— We ❤️ this place!) 🌴🍊☀️🌺

🌺 The RGV ranks low in voter turnout but HIGH in electoral power. We’re tired of large, outside organizations and campaigns coming to engage voters around election time! We need civic engagement opportunities year round! 📆

🌺 While older voters typically regard young people as apathetic about democracy, we know that’s NOT true. 🙅🏻‍♀️We’re rewriting that narrative.

🌺Young people care about the issues that are affecting them every day, and we are eager to solve the issues of our future. We just need a place to get plugged in (enter BLOOM RGV 💁🏻‍♀️).

We're excited to share that we are officially launching our new organization BLOOM (Building Leaders & Organizing Our Movement) Rio Grande Valley.

BLOOM RGV is a non-partisan civic engagement program focused on empowering Latino youth in the Rio Grande Valley through voter registration, education, and turnout. We believe in a world where every young person in the RGV uses their power to build a future in which all can blossom.
