The Main Street Bridge (near Walnut St) is getting replaced, and MassDOT is footing the bill. But the Town gets to choose the railing style: concrete or steel. Each has tradeoffs on cost, durability, and how it fits with downtown's look. The Select Board wants to hear what residents think before deciding, and they'll discuss it at their Aug. 4 meeting. Registration is still open for tomorrow evening’s Housing Production Plan forum.

Maynard is updating the plan that will help guide local housing policy over the next five years. What kinds of homes does the community need? Can seniors downsize and remain in Maynard? Can younger residents afford to stay or return? How should housing decisions account for water capacity, traffic, schools and other infrastructure?

The public forum will be held Wednesday, July 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom. The event is free, but advance registration is required.
