They will be coming through Pittsfield. A rally to cheer them on (and donate supplies) would be a good thing for our Berkshires.

Femke - the People's sign maker, Amika - the People's caligrapher, Aileen and Bruce of From Plymouth Rock to Standing Rock with our newly hand crafted banner. We are leaving Cape Cod and Plymouth Rock on Thursday November 3 with stops to collect blankets, stoves, flashlights, sleeping bags, sanitary supplies, etc. for delivery to Sacred Stones Camp at Standing Rock b4 Thanksgiving! Will spend two weeks in camp! Have several stops along the way - Brattleboro, Pittsfield, Rochester, Chicago, Iowa, Madison, Minneapolis - to pick up supplies b4 arriving. Folks unable to meet us at rendezvouz points may always donate cash for the purchase of larger budget items, see https://www.gofundme.com/2puywa4. With all the recent conflict and dismantling of nearby area camps we respond to the call of our sisters and brothers and of Mother Earth to help protect her soils, air, and waters ...

here's a simple concrete action you can take to stand with Standing Rock: "The Morton County Sheriff's Department has been using Facebook check-ins to find out who is at Standing Rock in order to target them in attempts to disrupt the prayer camps. SO Water Protecters are calling on EVERYONE to check-in at Standing Rock, ND to overwhelm and confuse them. This is concrete action that can protect people putting their bodies and well-beings on the line that we can do without leaving our homes. Will you join me in Standing Rock?"

We know that to defeat a pipeline, it takes a movement of people from all corners of the nation. From A Moment to A Movement: A Generational Conversation About Why Black Lives Matter

Prof. Battle-Baptiste, is a historical archaeologist at U-Mass, Amherst, who studies race, class and gender in the shaping of cultural landscapes across the African Diaspora. We’re at a moment where the time for talking seems to be over. We’re at a moment when we need to eliminate the status quo. There have been struggles for racial and economic justice for several generations, this has been our history. However, the very concept of Black Lives Matter has been a call for all of us to stand up and take notice of a new, young, and exasperated generation who want to effect change through the language and mechanisms that are familiar to them. We can learn from the past when the past can connect with the specifics of the present and future. This talk is about bridging that gap, and how the realities of our world today shift the conversation around pain and struggle from a moment, to a sustainable movement.
