Northwest Tennessee Elder Justice Coalition This page exists to provide information about Elder Abuse awareness and events. Code Ann., §13-26-101 to §13-26-111, as amended. Code Ann., §48-58-101, amended.

This Human Resource Agency was established pursuant to an Act adopted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee and known as the “Human Resource Agency Act of 1973, Public Acts of 1973, Chapter 289: Tenn. The agency also operates under authority of a Charter from the State of Tennessee under the Tennessee Non-Profit Corporation Act: Tenn. Section 1.2 Purpose of the Agency
The purpose of th

e Agency is to provide local governments with a delivery system for the development of human resources; and to operate service delivery programs on behalf of local governments, supported with federal, state, local and private funds in the Northwest Tennessee region. The Northwest Tennessee region includes Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion and Weakley Counties in Tennessee; and may include additional surrounding counties when appropriate as a part of a service delivery area. The Agency has divided its district into three divisions.
• Division 1 is comprised of Benton, Carroll, and Henry Counties.
• Division 2 is comprised of Crockett, Dyer, and Lake Counties.
• Division 3 is comprised of Gibson, Obion, and Weakley Counties. The Agency is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of § 501(C) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as now in effect or as amended. In carrying out its charitable purposes, the Agency will promote the development of human resources in Northwest Tennessee region through the effective and efficient delivery of services. It is recognized that a special need exists to obtain strong local involvement in the decisions of federal, state and other agencies which affect the welfare and well-being of the region’s citizens. The Agency will have the responsibility to provide both a forum and a vehicle for local authority to administer and assure the operation of human resource programs; to receive and disburse funds under any federal, state, local, or private assistance program in which the Agency could serve as a grantee, sub grantee, contractor, or sponsor for projects deemed appropriate for inclusion in human resource program.

Our State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) offers free one-on-one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families. SHIP also assists in recognizing fraud and provides events and open enrollment dates for Medicare.
