🪵 Marshall Noon Rotary Program Spotlight – B&B Bowls 🥣
Late post. On September 1, fellow Rotarian Bill Archbold shared one of his newest hobbies—woodturning and creating beautiful handcrafted bowls!
Bill has been turning bowls for about two years alongside his friend and bowl-making partner, Brian Kerkaert. It all began after Bill purchased woodworking equipment that included a lathe. Wanting to learn how to actually use it, Bill signed up for a woodturning class in Biwabik, Minnesota, and invited Brian along. From there, B&B Bowls was born!
They originally set up shop in Bill’s garage, but Bill’s wife, Molly, quickly discovered just how much sawdust bowl turning creates—and the garage workshop didn’t last long! 😄 They eventually moved their operation to a shop.
Bill walked us through the process of turning a simple chunk of wood into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind bowl. He brought bowls in different stages of completion, along with several impressive finished pieces.
What makes B&B Bowls even more special is how Bill and Brian share their creations. They’ve given bowls to those who donate wood, contributed pieces to charitable auctions, and created special gifts for others.
