Red Flag Warning issued for East Texas as strong cold front brings critical wildfire danger:

MARSHALL, Texas (KMHT) – A strong cold front moving into East Texas on Friday will bring much cooler air and increased threat of wildfires.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Red Flag Warning for the entire KMHT listening area from Friday through early Saturday morning, warning that a dangerous combination of strong winds, low humidity, and extremely dry vegetation could allow wildfires to ignite and spread quickly.

According to the National Weather Service, north winds could gust to more than 30 miles per hour Friday, while relative humidity levels are expected to drop to between 25 and 35 percent.

Those conditions, combined with extremely dry vegetation across the area, could create an environment where even a small spark becomes a significant wildfire in minutes.

The warning includes Harrison, Gregg, Marion, Panola, and surrounding East Texas counties, along with portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

9 /11 Remembrance Ceremony to be held this Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Harrison County Historic Courthouse. The service honors the 25th Anniversary of those who lost their lives (as well as those who heroically saved lives) during the horrific attacks on the United States of America.

Chairman Texas Ruegg of Rüeggenbach Brewing Co & Co - Chair Canddie Stickle Guffey of Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department ESD #6 and Nesbitt Volunteer Fire Department share that KMHT Media 103.9 FM will stream the ceremony live for those unable to attend.

The theme for the 44th Annual FireAnt Festival has been announced, and the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce invites the community to celebrate with a patriotic twist.

This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Sting,” combining red, white and blue pride with one of Marshall’s favorite festivals.

The Chamber also announced that the drone show originally scheduled for the Fourth of July Freedom Fest 250 will now happen during the FireAnt Festival. The Independence Day performance was canceled due to weather, but festival attendees will now get another chance to experience the drone show.

Additional details about the drone show, entertainment lineup and festival schedule are expected to be released soon.

The 44th Annual FireAnt Festival will feature family friendly activities, community events and entertainment. FireAnt Festival is always on the second Saturday of October.
