As we head into the winter months, we are seeking to prioritize medicine making at the herbal pantry. We are a super small team of regular volunteers, and we recognize that making time to do that at the same time as pantry hasn't been ideal. So we're going to test out having the free pantry open just 2 times monthly at .lous, with a third day on site each month being dedicated to medicine making.
We would also like to explore having room in our schedule to mobilize around the county to host pop-ups. Madison is a large and spread out county. It can take 1.5-2 hours to drive from my house to my friend's house by driving MadCo roads. Since the beginning, we've recognized that we are serving a unique population in the mutual aid world. Our rural communities have wildly different needs, and the way they go about their days and how they handle errands/getting their daily needs met is SUPER different to the way metro residents do. We also face different ailments, and the access issues around healthcare are also unique in rural communities (more on that another time). If you have ideas for a place or event in Madison we should consider (community center, senior meal site, etc) please reach out!
