Marshall Texas has amazing history! The railroad and music history is deep and rich and the equal of any place on the planet. Boogie Woogie, Lead Belly and so much more. You should visit the Marshall Depot and check out the Depot Railroad Museum, the Boogie Woogie Room and the Lead Belly Room!

Thank you to everyone that made Boogie Woogie 2025 a huge success! The Tribute to Lead Belly was amazing, and especially so because we had many descendants - from Mooringsport, Shreveport, Nashville, Marshall - come together and join the celebration. From Anthony G Parrish & Friends leading us off, through the Good Night Irene finale, it was a celebration of love and respect for the music heritage that is a blessing for our region. The Lead Belly documentary was powerful - people throughout the venue in unison, laughing, sighing, signing Good Night Irene, connections were being made. The gravesite tribute including descendants, family remarks, artist tributes and prayer. A glorious get together, including Friends of Lead Belly from Shreveport (thank you Carlana, thank you Jody!).

We will publish much more about the event. We need your help. Please respond to this post with photos and videos that you captured from the events. Something very special happened in Marshall, Texas this weekend. Help us preserve with what you captured!

Good morning from Boogie Woogie 2025! We are on the bus to Huddie’s gravesite! We had a great start – Lead Belly’s descendants got a sneak peek of the Lead Belly Room at the Boogie Woogie Museum at our beautiful Depot. Anthony Parrish & Friends got us off to a rousing start with a spectacular performance, and the estate documentary – Lead Belly: The Man Who Invented Rock & Rock captured the audience – history and the life story of one of the most influential musicians of all time. The Q&A with descendants Terika Dean and Alvin Singh, and author Sheila Curran Bernard, was thought provoking, interesting, and inspiring as to the legacy of this incredible figure and his ties to the Marshall area.
