NO KINGS! Marquette

10/14/2025

On Saturday, we wear yellow. Throughout history, people who have come together in protest against authoritarian governments have used a unifying color to symbolize their peaceful resistance. Our movement is no different. Yellow is a bright, unmistakable reminder that millions of us stand together in the belief that America belongs to its people — not to kings. ❌👑

Rubbish. We’re rallying on Saturday because we LOVE America

10/13/2025

As many of you know, the first No Kings protest was one of the largest, non-violent protests in American history. Recently, in an attempt to silence and frighten Americans from exercising their First Amendment rights, President Trump, Attorney General Bondi, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson have suggested that No Kings is unpatriotic and not peaceful. This post has two audiences:

First: to those who would attempt to scare Americans from exercising their birthright, which is the right to political speech, we are not afraid of you. We will be out in force on October 18th full of non-violent vigor, joy, and love for our community of Sault Ste. Marie. We are working to build a gentler and kinder world and nothing you say will dissuade us from that mission.

Second: to our supporters who might be feeling uneasy about threats coming from the Federal government or angry about the lies being told about us, we remind you that non-violent political action is the single most effective weapon in the long fight for human freedom and dignity. Political science is clear that non-violence is not only the best response to repression, but also the single most effective response to state-sponsored violence. The March on Washington was effective for showing the best of the Civil Rights Movement and the march across the Selma Bridge was effective for showing the worst of the Jim Crow South. No matter what they do, we will show up in force, we will engage in non-violent resistance and expression, and we will show the best of what this country can be.

Bring your flags, your friends, your neighbors, your kids, your families, your costumes if you are so inclined, and your spirit!

We are all in this together.
