"The measure, large elements of which appeared dead just weeks ago amid Democratic divisions, would inject more than $370 billion into climate and energy programs. Altogether, the bill could allow the United States to cut greenhouse gas emissions about 40 percent below 2005 levels by the end of the decade."

Despite all Republicans being opposed, the vote was a major victory for President Biden and Democrats. The bill now goes to the House, where it is expected to pass by the end of the week.

Through Sunday!

In this animated short, Climate activist Greta Thunberg juxtaposes the absurdity of political inaction with the straightforward high-stakes of the climate emergency.

On a call Tuesday evening attended by more than 500 volunteer leaders, CCL Director of Government Affairs Jennifer Tyler said, “Congress is nearing a decision, and we still have a window to make an impact.”

CCL Strategy Director Tony Sirna outlined the campaign to generate hundreds of calls to senators and representatives: “We want them to know that the public wants more on climate than the framework has in it right now. We want a carbon fee and dividend.”

It's coming down to the wire for what climate policies Congress will adopt in budget reconciliation. Call your Senators to let them know we need to hit the goal of 50% emissions reductions by 2030.

President Biden is actively negotiating with Congressional Democrats on the reconciliation bill and we need to "turn up the heat!"

We are asking all our volunteers to ramp up their efforts to email Biden. Some 12,000 people nationally have already done this, and CCL has now set a goal of 20,000 by October 15--just 10 days away!

Write to President Biden:

President Biden wants to go big on climate change. Email him to let him know that there's nothing bigger than a price on carbon.
