Nitzavim means to be standing, and to be tall. The Torah opens with atem nitzavim hayom kulchem, the day the masters read as Rosh Hashana, when we stand before G-d.

What is the secret formula for standing, for a positive verdict, for the year we are all hoping for? Kulchem. Together. Ten kinds of people are listed, from the heads of the nation down to the water carriers and the woodchoppers, and the Torah places them in one circle.

Vayehi biYeshurun melech, from the word shir. We are a song. Yisrael from shir kel, the song of G-d. A song is circular, with higher melodies and lower ones, and it becomes beautiful when we draw the melody out of each other. Shomea kol teruah, G-d hears the innermost voice inside a person, the one that has nothing to do with stature.

Higher Mazal explores the Leo eclipse, ego, authentic identity, service, and the invitation to become a force of love.

Rise above the smallness or the enemy.

Ki tetze la milchama al oyvecha. When you go out to war over your enemies. Notice what the Torah does not say. It does not say against your enemies. It says over them.

The Kabbalists hear two completely different levels of war inside that one word.

The first is the war you already know intimately. The animal soul and the G-dly soul contending with each other, day after day. It comes when we eat and drink and get pulled into physicality, and it comes the moment we sit down to pray. The animal soul says leave me alone, I just want to do my thing. The G-dly soul says I want to be connected to my root, to my Father in heaven. The Zohar calls the time of prayer a war room. If you have ever stood in davening while your mind was somewhere else entirely, you already know that room.

The second level is al. Over. Here you do not disconnect from the fight and you do not pretend it is not happening. You go deeper inside yourself, underneath the noise, until you are standing above the duality itself. And then the Torah says v'shavita shivyo. It looks like there are many enemies. The truth is there is only one opposition, and from above, it can finally be met.

Every single day is a battle of some sort. If yours keeps finding you in the same place, you are not doing it wrong. You are being invited to stand somewhere higher, closer to the deeper essence of yourself and to the Creator within you.

May it meet you exactly where you are. Shabbat Shalom.

Today is my 50th birthday 🎉😊

As a child of the 80s and 90s, I grew up in a world before cellphones and social media.

Cassette players, boomboxes, CDs, and VCRs were our tools for entertainment, and in many ways, life seemed much simpler.

Do not get me wrong. I am deeply grateful for the incredible advancements in technology and science. Yet I also feel that something of that pure simplicity has been lost.

We have more information than ever before, but less space for reflection. We are more connected technologically, yet meaningful communication, long-term thinking, and the ability to listen to those with whom we disagree are becoming increasingly rare.

In 2026, many of us are blessed with material abundance, yet we are searching for greater spiritual abundance, more time, more presence, more wisdom, and more inner meaning.

Pirkei Avot teaches that fifty is the age of counsel. It is a time when the experiences, lessons, challenges, and wisdom accumulated throughout a lifetime can begin to be offered more fully to others.

For nearly thirty years, I have had the privilege of teaching children and adults, helping to establish schools, serving as a principal and community rabbi, teaching thousands of students at Ascent in Tzfat, facilitating experiences for more than 10,000 Birthright participants, and building Live Kabbalah into a living school and community.

Through all of these experiences, one passion has remained constant: bringing sacred wisdom into life and helping others discover the light they are here to share.

Today, in honor of my 50th birthday, I am excited to open the founding cohort of the Live Kabbalah Practitioner Program.

This is an eight-month journey for teachers, healers, coaches, facilitators, and community leaders who want to embody the wisdom of Kabbalah and gain practical tools to teach, guide meditation, hold transformative space, facilitate groups, and serve others authentically.

More than a course, this is a process of becoming a vessel for the wisdom and light you are here to share.

If something within you feels called by this, comment or message me the word LIGHT, and I will send you more information.

This Shabbat we bless the new month of Elul, and the whole good year begins right here.

We bless Elul from within Av, from the energy of Leo, Aryeh (אריה), the lion. And hidden in the very letters of Aryeh is the map of the year to come: Aleph for Elul, Reish for Rosh Hashanah, Yod for Yom HaKippurim, Hey for Hoshana Rabbah. The entire path to being inscribed for a good and sweet year is already folded into this moment.

Our sages teach that it is better to walk behind a lion than behind the maiden. On the deeper level, it is better to return to Hashem from the strength of Av, the lion, than to wait for the inspiration of Elul, the betulah. The teshuvah that begins now, before Elul even arrives, carries the greatest power, and there is no better moment to lift it than this Shabbat.

May we all be blessed with a good and sweet year, on a personal and a collective level. It all begins now. Shabbat shalom.
