Wreaths Across America - Marion MS Cheer Ft. Sam National Cemetery

Today was the day, the Wreaths Across America ceremony and the laying of the wreaths. Some of our girls volunteered and laid 67 of the 86 wreaths that got sponsored through our group. Of the 86 wreaths that were sponsored, 19 of those were grave specific where they get laid separately.
I think It Is safe to say that we all felt today was a touching day. From listening to all of the guest speakers, the singing of the national anthem, the prayers and the playing of Taps.
We are blessed and thankful for all who served, and are serving, God bless you and God bless America.

We are half way to our goal, 56%, with 73 wreaths sponsored to honor veterans. Thank you to everyone that has gotten us this far but we need to keep it going.
Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery has a total of 182,000 graves and 24,132 wreaths have been sponsored so far.
The deadline to sponsor a wreath is November 28, 10:59pm CST.

It is almost that time of the year where the Marion MS Cheerleaders will participate in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery Wreaths Across America ceremony. Last year was the first year Coach Moss and the girls participated and they honored many soldiers, as well as other groups that participated. We are excited to take part again this year. Help the Marion Middle School Cheerleaders fill the Ft. Sam National Cemetery. You can do so by sponsoring a veteran's wreath at the low cost of $17.00. You have the option to sponsor a specific veteran's grave if you have loved one that is buried at Ft. Sam or it will sponsor any veteran. For every 2 wreaths that are purchased the WAA will donate a 3rd wreath. The cut off to sponsor a veteran is the evening of December 2, then on December 14 the squad will volunteer and lay the wreaths.

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath? Sponsoring a veteran’s wreath is a personal gift of gratitude and remembrance for someone who served this country so that we can be free.

Your sponsorship supports the yearlong mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom, while making new and existing free programs available to the masses. With each sponsorship made, a veteran’s wreath will be placed to honor an American hero at participating locations this year on National Wreaths Across America Day.
