Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has partnered with the American Printing House to provide free braille books to children in need. A child who is visually impaired or has a parent who is visually impaired can enroll and get books every other month until their 6th birthday.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is changing the lives of children across the world. The US is no different!

Children in the US were 9x more likely to initiate shared book reading compared to children not in the program.

Children in the US were nearly 3x more likely to demonstrate concepts about print compared to children not in the program.

Children in the US were 5x more likely to be interested in reading compared to children not in the program.

Williamson County currently has approximately 1400 children enrolled in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library which equals 45% of all eligible children in that county!

Here's how it works! For six weeks this summer, challenge yourself to read a little bit every day and see how it adds up. Reading for our summer reading challenge can be counted towards our other year-round challenges too. Summer reading is for ALL AGES:

Kids (0-11 years old): Challenge yourself to read 1,000 minutes. For every 100 minutes read you will receive a prize and when you get to 1,000 minutes you get to take home your very own 3D printed dragon. Every 100 minutes read also gets you one entry into the grand prize drawing.

Teens (12-17): Every 2 hours read earns you a prize. Complete the challenge after 20 hours and receive a prize. After that, every additional 2 hours you read gets you an entry into a grand prize drawing.

Adults (18+): Challenge yourself to read three books in six weeks to earn a personal pan pizza from Quatro’s and be entered into a grand prize drawing! Any additional books read during the six week period will get you another entry into a grand prize drawing.

We'll have a sign-up booth in the library next Monday if you have any questions about registration, logging minutes, etc!
