On Saturday, January 17, 2026, Chapter Greenlee members attended the Grave Marker Ceremony honoring Patriot Charles Haney. The dedication was sponsored by the SAR Colonel Alexander Erwin Chapter and took place at the Gardin Haney Cemetery in Marion, NC. Dr. James Haney, direct descendant of Charles Haney, attended the dedication.

For its meeting on Saturday, January 17, 2026, members of Chapter Greenlee were asked to come prepared to answer the question, "Are you my cousin?" Rene Bryson, registrar for Greenlee, led the group in using the “Relatives Around Me” link in the FamilySearch App to discover which members in Chapter Greenlee could be their cousins. The results were phenomenal! Every person in the group was a cousin to someone else in the group. Before we left, we all hugged our newly discovered cousins!

The year 2025 marks two important milestones: the end of World War II in 1945 and the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. These events in our country’s history remind us of the courage demonstrated by these heroes and the cost of freedom.
