Donation Needs – Help Us Serve Breakfast & Lunch

As we continue to support unsheltered individuals during Code Purple, we are in need of a few food donations to help provide breakfast and lunch for our guests.

Current needs include:

🥖 Bread
🍓 Jelly
🥪 Sandwich meat
🧀 Cheese
🥣 Oatmeal
🍪 Pop-Tarts
🥤 Drinks

If you’re able to help, donations can be dropped off at 804 State St.

Our Golden Mini Miss, Lucia Hodges, spent her time giving back to the community this week by donating to the WNC Food Bank in Asheville! 🥫💛 Her kindness and generosity remind us that you’re never too young to make a difference. We are so proud of Lucia for representing the Golden Girls Club with such a big heart!

Our Golden Queens came together to donate the table settings for the Mission Ministries Alliance Thanksgiving Dinner at the men’s shelter. 🦃 From plates and napkins to tablecloths, and centerpieces, our girls stepped up to help make this meal special for over 50 men in our community. So proud of these young ladies for serving with heart and representing the Golden Girls Club with kindness and generosity. 💛

💜 Spreading Awareness, One Rock at a Time! 💜 We had a special time painting purple rocks for Domestic Violence Awareness Month with New HOPE of McDowell! 🪨 Throughout October, we’ll be helping hide these rocks around downtown Marion. Each one has a QR code you can scan to visit New HOPE’s page and post a photo with your rock to show your support for ending domestic violence!

Keep your eyes peeled, the hunt begins soon! 👀

We had the sweetest time at the McDowell County Animal Shelter doing kitty enrichment. Lots of cuddles, playtime, and purrs from the residents waiting on their forever homes 💕 We are collecting donations for the shelter through our club Venmo: 🐶🐱 Every contribution helps!

We’re collecting non-perishable food supplies to help families in need through the WMMS Food Drive! 💛 If you don’t have a student at WMMS, you can still help:

📍 Drop donations off at Studio K Salon, and the Golden Girls will deliver them to the school for you!

🐾 Our Club President, Greenleigh, chatted with the McDowell County Animal Shelter's director, Taylor, about the shelter’s needs, how the community can get involved, and the best ways we can all support the cats and dogs being cared for there. 💛
We are excited to highlight this important conversation and shine a light on the amazing work happening right here in our community. ✨

🌟 Spotlight on Service – Golden Little Miss, Avery Lee! 🌟

We are so proud of Avery for stepping out of her comfort zone this month to give back to her community! ❤️ Avery read one of her favorite books to a group of 3rd graders. 📚✨ Even though she was nervous, she shared how sweet the students were and how much she loved being a role model for younger kids.

👑 Meet our 2025 Golden Tiny Miss – Eva Sumpter! 👑

Eva is 4 years old and from Marion, NC. She loves swimming, playing with her three cats, gardening, coloring, and painting. 🎨

Eva dreams of a fun trip to the beach and has a big curiosity for outer space and astronauts. 🚀

We’re so excited to watch Eva shine this year as Golden Tiny Miss!

🌟 Meet our 2025 Golden Mini Miss – Lucia Hodges! 🌟

Lucia is 9 years old, in 4th grade at IC Imagine Public Charter School, and from Asheville, NC. She loves repertory dance, soccer, and riding her bike. 🚴

Lucia dreams of becoming a veterinarian when she grows up and has already started caring for her two leopard geckos, Tim and Tamale. 🦎

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things Lucia will accomplish this year as Golden Mini Miss!

👑 Meet our 2025 Golden Little Miss – Kerry Lee! 👑

Kerry is 12 years old and from Nebo, NC. She loves cheerleading, tumbling, softball, and traveling! You can often find her at her church youth group, homeschool co-ops, or spending time with her family! 🎀

Two years ago, Kerry learned she is legally blind in one eye. Instead of letting it slow her down, she’s used it to grow stronger, more resilient, and even more determined to chase her dreams. 💪

Looking ahead, Kerry hopes to travel the world as a travel nurse with her dog by her side and eventually earn her real estate license to help others find their forever homes. 🌎

We can’t wait to see all the incredible things Kerry will accomplish this year as Golden Little Miss 2025!
