City council will hear from both Flock and local advocates

Yesterday, I attended the Marinette City Council meeting as another stop on my Our Community First Listening Tour.

Every municipality operates a little differently, and attending these meetings gives me an opportunity to see firsthand how local government works, what issues are being discussed, and what matters to each community.

I also had the opportunity to speak briefly with Mayor Steve Genisot about our upcoming meeting, and I spoke with City Clerk Lana Bero about setting up a separate meeting with her. I look forward to both conversations and to learning more about the needs, challenges, and priorities of the City of Marinette.

One of the most important parts of this journey for me is simply showing up, listening, asking questions, and learning. Every meeting and every conversation gives me a better understanding of the communities I hope to represent.

Another day, another recall. Meanwhile, the agencies whose whole job is catching contaminated food before it hits shelves keep losing staff. Reps. Derrick Van Orden and Tom Tiffany had a shot at reversing that in June, but they voted to cut food safety funding even further.

Our Can and Comfort drive ended today. We collected 198.5 # of canned goods and hygiene products. Total value of $381.00. 💰

Thank you to all who participated. Jacks on Roosevelt had the most with Jacks on Cleveland Av was second and Jacks in Menominee was third and Marinette Senior Center next. The Marinette City Hall, well.... they took it upon themselves to relocate the collection box at the end of the dark hall by the "out of order" elevator, with the front of the box facing the wall... I guess they felt it wasn't of any importance 🤷‍♀️

👏Thanks to all Jacks locations and Marinette Senior Center for letting us place a collection box there. ❤️ And a huge shout out to the people who contributed. It was greatly appreciated and was given to our local shelters and pantry. Great job!!
