A randomized controlled trial published in World Psychiatry has confirmed that Stanford Neuromodulation Therapy (SNT) can achieve 50% remission rates in patients with treatment-resistant depression, compared to 20.8% with sham stimulation.
What makes this finding particularly significant for the neuroregulation community is the EEG biomarker discovery: frontal beta power decreased significantly following active treatment, and higher pre-treatment left anterior cingulate cortex beta power predicted who would benefit most.
This means we may soon be able to use EEG to identify which patients are most likely to respond to neuromodulation, moving closer to truly personalized brain-based treatment.
