🎶Day 5 Wrap-Up | 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up 🎶

What an incredible conclusion to an unforgettable week of professional growth, and collaboration!

Today, our participants had the privilege of learning from two outstanding master clinicians. Bernard Flythe led engaging and in-depth pedagogical sessions focused on beginning euphonium and tuba instruction. Participants explored the "how-to" of starting young low brass students while gaining valuable insights into best practices that promote long-term musical growth.

Our percussion track was led by the outstanding Scott Brown, whose extensive experience as an educator brought tremendous value to the day. Participants received hands-on instruction in snare drum, keyboard, timpani, accessory, and world percussion!

A HUGE thank you to Sarah Erickson, Director of Fine Arts for Atlanta Public Schools, and the incredible staff at Sutton Middle School 7/8 Campus for their hospitality and support throughout the week. Their commitment helped make this event a tremendous success.

We are also deeply grateful to Demoulin Uniforms (Brad Barnes and Jeff Therber) for their support and partnership. Thank you to Hal Leonard Corporation for providing Essential Elements method books for our participants, a resource that was used throughout the entire week and served as a "take away" for each participant.

As we close the 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up, we celebrate more than just professional development. We celebrate a community of music educators who came together, shared ideas, and became a family. The true winners will be the thousands of students who will benefit from the knowledge and renewed passion these teachers will bring to their classrooms this fall.

What a week. What an opportunity for growth. What an investment in the future of music education!

We hope you'll plan to join us next year for this amazing week of learning, connection, and inspiration!

🎶 Day 4 Recap – 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up 🎶

Sponsored by Demoulin Uniforms and Hal Leonard Music, Day 4 of the 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up provided participants with an outstanding day of brass pedagogy, performance, and professional growth.

Teachers were inspired by an exemplary French Horn masterclass led by horn artist and educator Katy Ray. Participants explored effective teaching strategies, performance fundamentals, and practical approaches to developing successful horn players at every level.

The day also featured an in-depth Trombone masterclass presented by artist and educator Hollie Lawing-Pritchard. Through hands-on playing experiences and detailed pedagogical discussions, participants gained valuable insights into building strong trombone fundamentals and accelerating student achievement.

Both clinicians provided practical teaching tools, engaging performance opportunities, and proven strategies that educators can immediately implement in their classrooms and rehearsal halls to help students achieve quicker and more successful results.

As we begin the final day of our week-long journey of instructional discovery, we are excited to welcome two more master clinicians to conclude an incredible week of learning, collaboration, and inspiration!

🎶 Day 3 of the 2026 The Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up was an incredible day of learning, inspiration, and hands-on professional development for our band director participants!

We were honored to welcome the outstanding Mr. Gary Paulo, D'Addario saxophone educational artist and applied teacher from Berry College and Emory University, who led engaging and insightful saxophone master classes. Participants also benefited from exceptional trumpet master classes presented by veteran music educator and trumpet artist, Dr. Charles Jackson, Music Education Lecturer at Georgia State University. Both of our nationally renowned clinicians gave our participants insight on how to teach saxophone and trumpet while providing individual assessment of performance tendencies on each instrument.

The day concluded with a highly informative brass repair clinic led by Mr. Raleigh Sharp, Instrument Repair Manager at The Gift of Music, providing valuable hands-on instruction and practical knowledge that directors can immediately apply in their programs.

Day 3 was packed with educational experiences, expert clinician guidance, and inspirational moments that energized and empowered our participants and clinicians.
A special thank you to our sponsors, Demoulin Bros. Uniforms and Hal Leonard Music, for their continued support of music education and professional growth at The 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up!

Day 2 of the 2026 Gift of Music Summer Teacher Tune Up, sponsored by Demoulin and Hal Leonard Music, has officially wrapped up and what an incredible day it was!

Our participants enjoyed engaging, hands-on masterclasses for oboe and bassoon, gaining valuable insights and practical instruction from the outstanding Natalie Beckenbaugh (oboe) and Lazara Santana Alvarez (bassoon). Their expertise and passion provided an inspiring learning experience for all involved!

Today also marked our highly anticipated Composer in Residence Day, featuring the talented Tyler Grant. Participants had the unique opportunity to learn directly from a contemporary composer, gaining fresh perspectives on creativity, musicianship, and the compositional process in both presentation and lab band environments.

The energy, collaboration, and dedication to musical excellence continue to make this year's Teacher Tune Up an unforgettable experience. We can't wait to see what Day 3 has in store!

We are very grateful to Brad Barnes and Jeff Therber from Demoulin Bros. and Sarah Erickson, Director of Fine Arts for Atlanta Public Schools for their support of this week long teacher professional development seminar. One of our string teachers, Ms. Lorén had one of her fabulous Zoom recitals yesterday at 4:00 PM. We had multiple Peachtree Corners students play in the recital and they were just splendid. Pictured here is William who played on Zoom but also had a living room full of supporters. Way to go, Lorén and students! We are so proud of you!!

The 2026 Gift of Music Marching Band Show Design and Adjudicators Summit, sponsored by Ultimate Drill Book, is now in the books! We are very grateful to all of our participants who took part in the two day event hosted by Kennesaw State University and Director of Athletic Bands, Brandon Meeks. Our nationally renowned clinician faculty included Reid Atkinson (Austin, TX), Chip Crotts (Kennesaw, GA), John Howell (Pittsburgh, PA), Keith Potter (Indianapolis, IN), Jeff Sacktig (Woodstock, GA), Richard Saucedo (Indianapolis, IN) and David Starnes (Dallas, GA). Over the course of two days, the participants received detailed presentations on the components of music and visual show design while receiving consultation on their own design creations. The marching band adjudication portion of the weekend provided in-depth training, conversation, and hands on application to better understand and implement the performance and design evaluation process. Thank you to everyone at The Gift of Music, Kennesaw State University, and Ultimate Drill Book that made this event such an inviting and productive learning opportunity. If you were unable to attend this year, we look forward to welcoming you in 2027!
