Keep Wayne Wild Wayne National Forest

The Wayne National Forest is located in the majestic hills of southeastern Ohio.

This small national forest, in the heart of the heavily populated Midwest, covers a little over 240,000 acres of Appalachian foothills. Nearly wiped out during the industrial revolution, this determined forest has made an incredible recovery and offers many recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast.

The Threat to our Forest

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has decided to lease

up to 40,000 acres of the WNF for oil and gas extraction in the form of hydraulic fracturing (fracking). If they are successful, that would essentially take away 1/6th of the only National Forest in Ohio, and one of the smallest forests in the nation. 700 acres were sold in December, 2016 and another 1,600 acres are scheduled for auction on March 23, 2017. We Need Your Voice

Many concerned individuals and groups within the Appalachian area, and throughout Ohio have been working to protect WNF from these unnecessary and invasive measures. Uniting is the key to our success. You can learn more at www.keepwaynewild.com).
