May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and supporting our veterans means supporting their mental health, too.

We invite you to join us next Wednesday for our Q2 Connecting Georgia Veterans meeting as we come together for important conversations around veteran support, resources, and community connection.

This is a great opportunity to connect with others who are working to strengthen services and support for veterans across our community. We hope to see you there as we continue building a stronger, healthier community for those who served.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health—and support should be accessible in ways that fit your life.

Whether through in-person visits, virtual care, or other available resources, there are options designed to meet veterans where they are.

If you’re a veteran looking for support, speak with your VA provider or visit Mentalhealth.va.gov/get-help/access-care.asp to learn more about your care options.

You are not alone, and help is available.

May is Mental Health Month-but this conversation starts now.

Many Veterans face unique challenges when transitioning to civilian life. Experiences like combat exposure, prolonged stress, and time away from family can have lasting impacts. Too often, mental health needs go unmet due to stigma or barriers to care.

At Connecting Georgia Veterans, we see how closely mental health and housing stability are connected. Through our Rapid Response Emergency Housing Program, we provide immediate support while also connecting Veterans to the mental health resources they need to heal and rebuild.

Here’s how you can take action:
• Check in on the Veterans in your life
• Share resources like the Veterans Crisis Line (dial 988, then press 1)
• Support organizations working to connect Veterans with care

Mental health challenges are not a sign of weakness—they’re a call for support. Together, we can ensure every Veteran has access to the care, dignity, and stability they’ve earned.

57% of the assistance we’ve provided has been housing-related.

More than half of the veterans reaching out to us are facing housing instability — from overdue rent to emergency lodging.

Stable housing is the foundation for everything else. Help us continue responding when veterans need it most. Donate today at cgvets.org

A pioneering aviator, Jacqueline Cochran didn’t just fly planes—she fought for women to do the same. She founded the WASP program, training female pilots to fly military aircraft during WWII. She later became the first woman to break the sound barrier, proving the sky had no limits.
