AUTUMN LEAF FESTIVAL KIDS CARNIVAL WRISTBANDS CLARIFICATION POST

As in past years Clarion Kindness Project raised funds and provided free carnival wristbands for children in the community 😊We did a couple of fundraisers and sls

Our process this year required parents to register and provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate. We required the birth certificates to prove the child was between 3-16 years old.

Many people registered but not everyone submitted a birth certificate. We tried to make the process easy and didn’t ask for proof of income etc. And many parents submitted what we asked for so we know it wasn’t that difficult.

We included on all of our posts that you had to submit the birth certificate and you would receive a confirmation email if your child was eligible for a free ticket 🎟️ this information was also included on the registration form in bold print.

We also made it clear that you needed to pick up a ticket on Saturday 10/3. Some people reached out and said they couldn’t come on 10/3 and we allowed family members to pick up for them or made alternate arrangements.

On the registration form it stated the free wristbands were for Mon 10/5 thru Thursday 10/8. In addition I told every parent who picked up tickets what the dates are. And it is printed right on the tickets what days and times they can be redeemed.

So I am hoping someone can tell me why people showed up at the carnival ticket booth last night and tried to get wristbands? What bothers me is the children were probably excited and thought they could go to the carnival last night and I don’t understand when it was very clear the tickets were good starting Monday where the confusion is?

There were also people who went and said their name is on a list and they wanted free wristbands. There is no list this year you must have a ticket from our organization to get a wristband.

I have a few people who didn’t show up yesterday contacting me today wanting me to make arrangements for them or leave their tickets at the booth. After much thought and discussion with others we aren’t going to do that. It is not fair to the many people who showed up yesterday to get their tickets and it’s not fair to me to go running around at the last minute.

I do feel bad for the children who will miss out 😞but my husband pointed out that when our boys were growing up they had many events and things and we always made sure to get them there. This is about deadlines and personal responsibility.

On to the positive things 😊 because of many kind people and businesses over 140 kids are going to the carnival 🎡 and I hope they have the best time ever 🙌
