Well, it’s been a year as the HOA President for Sedona Lakes Community in Manvel, Texas. It’s been a learning experience with a great team on the HOA Board with Paul, Quaila, Maria. Still work to be done with Landscaping, Pavillion, and our Reserve Study which starts with the wrought iron fencing along Sedona Lakes.

Here are my goals as "Your" Board member:

1. Continue to strengthen and expand HOA committees and support.
2. Promote to develop a 5-year Strategic Plan with resident representatives to develop Objectives and Goals for the Community incorporating achievable resident priorities.
3. Promote to develop Capital Improvement plan to improve and add amenities for the community.
4. Collaborate with other surrounding HOAs to develop best practices, lessons learned and exchange ideas to improve our communities.
5. Collaborate with the Sedona Lakes Municipal Utility District in improving our community and support the Community Strategic and Capital Improvement plans.
6. Host “Community Barn Raising” and Community projects to assist residents in need.
7. Host quarterly Townhall meetings with local governments and public safety (Manvel, Brazoria, and Houston) to improve and protect our communities.
8. Liaison with local governments to ensure Community concerns are addressed.
9. Management Company will publish a monthly newsletter with current events and list of outstanding maintenance issues and expected resolution dates.
10. Streamline HOA Exterior Modifications process to standardize improvements and provide flexibilities for residents to improve their properties without impacting property values and community appearance. Providing timely responses and support to our residents. (Geographic Committee members to provide immediate approval and adjudication of requests with Community oversight. “One Community, One Standard.”
11. Provide transparency for residents to “police their own” neighborhoods and assist when conflicts arise.
12. Offer Bi-Annual property reviews to allow residents to anticipate potential violations and provide advice on improvements and maintenance without repercussions.
13. Encourage Management Company to take action on maintenance or property issues within 24 hours and provide an update to the resident, Board of Directors, and Community through email and other social media platforms. The Management company will provide the basic information and anticipated time to be resolved or fixed. If not resolved in 24 hours, the Management company will provide weekly updates until resolved.
14. Research public grants to improve the community.
15. Continue to develop Social Activities that promote the community and social interaction among residents.

This is what I aspire to do as "Your" Board member:

1. Start a new chapter in the HOA through leadership, mutual trust and respect, collaboration, and transparency creating a community where we are one family working together to live our lives, raise our families, and live our best lives.
2. Create a community that is safe for our residents, families, children, and visitors.
3. Ensure the Management Company and Board of Directors are responsive and transparent to the Sedona Lakes Community.
4. Treat every neighbor with dignity respecting their views, values, and their role in our community as this is our home.
5. Improve the community in appearance, amenities, and status to provide the quality of life unmatched in the area and increase the property value.
6. Work with residents to streamline policies, procedures, and rules to make common sense and promote safety, security, and value of our property.

Kelly lives on Desert Rose Court in Sedona Lakes with his wife, Kim, and their Saudi Arabia adopted dog, Lucy. Kelly is a Combat Veteran serving 32 years in the Army achieving the rank of Colonel.
He’s an Eagle Scout and life-long leader in scouting seeing his son also achieve Eagle. Kelly went to college at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana majoring in Anthropology. He received master’s degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the U.S. Army War College.

So, what does Kelly know about serving as a Board of Director member for an HOA? Kelly lives by the “Golden Rule” to treat people the way they would like to be treated and has built teams and collaboration across cultures, countries, and organizations. He loves the Sedona Lakes community and hopes to meet every resident in the community and make it the best place to live and raise a family. He is knowledgeable business and contracts to provide the best quality of life for the people.

Kelly loves TexMex, Barbeque, Bourbon, Tequila, Margaritas, and Mescal. If you come by his house, get a glass, pour a drink and sit down and tell stories about “life, wife, kids, war and everything in between.” He’s a good listener and provides free unfiltered advice upon request. Kelly is an avid scuba diver and PADI Divemaster.

He is the Executive Vice President of Government Business at Enginuity Power Systems where he leads the Government efforts in a portfolio of programs and initiatives to include the Enginuity Power Systems’ Ruggedized Integrated Hybrid Generator Set (RIHGS) which is a hybrid generator designed to provide the military with a lightweight, resilient solution that can be deployed across all services.
