Introducing “Greenhouse Dreams,” the mural on the side of our new GROW by NECIC building!

As you drive by, you may recognize the scene from our Urban Farm just down the road at 311 Bowman Street. Look closer and you’ll discover thousands of smaller photos that come together to tell NECIC’s story since our founding.

Current and former employees, volunteers, board members, interns, community members, events, community cleanups and everyday moments all have a place in this mural. Each photo represents a piece of the work that has helped NECIC become what it is today.

A heartfelt thank you to Luke Beekman and his team at Mankind Painting LLC, to Braxton Daniels III for capturing our farm beautifully, and to everyone who has been part of NECIC in any way since its inception. You are part of this story, and we’re proud to share it with our neighborhood.

We hope “Greenhouse Dreams” brings a little color to your drive in the North End and some joy when you can soon stand in front of it, explore the photos, and find a familiar face or favorite memory.

A huge thank you to Directions Credit Union for spending their day off on Monday helping revitalize NECIC’s flower farm as part of the United Way of Richland County Day of caring!

Their team put in hard work to help prepare the flower farm for spring 2027, laying the groundwork for a new season of North End blooms!

This past Saturday, we welcomed a wonderful group of local seniors for another Social Connection Adventure featuring a chili cookoff followed by bingo!

Everyone put their taste buds to the test judging homemade chilis before settling in for bingo. It was a joy to bring everyone together for an afternoon of fun, conversation, and connection!

A special thank you to Emily, Eva, Lucas, and Sarah for preparing the chilis for our seniors to judge, and to Tionna for helping call bingo! Thank you for helping make another great gathering possible.

These Social Connection Adventures are supported and funded by the Richland County Senior Services Levy, administered by the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc.

Your voice can help turn neighborhood concerns into action!

Mark your calendars for our next Watch the Block meeting on Wednesday, October 14, at 5 PM at 486 Springmill Street!

Our first two meetings have already helped address several residents’ concerns, with support from the City’s Codes team helping resolve issues brought forward by neighbors last month.

In Mansfield, our profits support NECIC’s work in the North End.

Recently, Jackie, who oversees our Mansfield location, joined us on visits to some of our most loyal staffing clients to recognize their community impact during fiscal year 2026.

First stop: Metal Conversions!

Metal Conversions has been one of our favorite employers to work with at NECIC. During our visit, we also celebrated Quentin and Rodney, two outstanding employees working at Metal Conversions through NECIC Staffing. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication!

A huge thank you to Drew and Wash at Metal Conversions for their continued partnership and for helping invest $80,821.99 into the North End community in fiscal year 2026!

Our former NECIC Teaching Garden is getting ready for a new chapter as the NECIC Flower Farm!

In a few weeks, we’ll begin rebuilding garden beds and restoring the space. We can’t wait to share it with everyone when it’s complete.

For now, we want to thank the people, businesses, and organizations who donated or sponsored new beds to help make this possible: Metal Conversions, Pillar Credit Union, Dairy Land, Tim's Auto Repair, LLC , Cleveland Financial, Carl Taddeo, Legacy Academy of Excellence Mansfield , Crystal Care Nursing and Rehab Center of Mansfield, Cathy Walters in memory of her father and North Ender Clarence "t***s" Thompson, the North End Elder Program, and North Ender Yolanda Allen.

We’ll share more about each of these wonderful supporters in the coming weeks. Thank you for helping this garden grow again!

Our NECIC farmstand is OPEN today, and we’ve got a stacked lineup of produce for purchase!

Stop by the NECIC Urban Farm at 311 Bowman Street from 12–5 PM for:

🍎 Fresh apples picked yesterday, plus pears
🎃 Pumpkins, pie pumpkins, acorn squash and butternut squash
🫐 Fresh elderberries! This is the first harvest from the elderberry trees in the back field of our Urban Farm. They’re perfect for jam and other delicious cooked preparations.
🍈 Cantaloupes and watermelons
🧅 Onions
🍯 A limited amount of honey
🍅 Green tomatoes, ripe tomatoes and cherry tomatoes
🌶️ Peppers, habaneros and snacking peppers
🫛 Green beans, okra and more!

We accept cash, credit and debit cards, SNAP/EBT, WIC, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits, Richland County Bucks, Fruit & Veggie Coupons and other benefits accepted at the North End Farmers Market.

Come early for the best selection, some favorites sell out quickly. See you at the farmstand!
