54th Regiment of Foot

54th Regiment of Foot We are a New England based reenactment group portraying HM 54th Regiment of Foot 1775-1778

We are a Revolutionary War reenacting unit based in eastern Connecticut, dedicated to portraying His Majesty's 54th Regiment of Foot - a British regiment - as they would have appeared while on garrison in Rhode Island during the years of 1776-77. The regiment participated in several notable battles, including the Battle of Rhode Island in 1778, and the Battle of Fort Griswold in 1781, as well as s

everal smaller engagements along the New England coast, such as the Mount Hope Bay Raids of 1778, and Tryon's Raid of 1779. Although not as heavily involved in the conflict as some other units, the 54th gained a notorious reputation for their involvement in events such as the aforementioned Battle of Fort Griswold, and the subsequent Burning of New London, earning the nickname of "The Flamers."
