Let’s talk about something important.

As we get closer to the midterm elections, I want to bring attention to something we see firsthand at The Care Cottage.

Food insecurity. Poverty. Families struggling to afford basic necessities.

Community pantries like ours exist because there are people in our own neighborhoods who struggle to put food on the table.

While I’m incredibly grateful that The Care Cottage can help fill some of those gaps, I wish those gaps didn’t exist in the first place.

Decisions made by elected officials can affect food assistance programs, housing affordability, education, healthcare, basic human rights and other resources that families depend on.

These are real issues affecting real people, including our neighbors right here in Clarendon County.

Regardless of where you stand politically, I encourage everyone to learn about the issues, research the candidates, and understand how government decisions affect our communities.

Helping our neighbors shouldn’t stop at handing someone a bag of groceries. It should also include caring about why they’re struggling in the first place. 🤍
