The inaugural IndieChinese Film Fest, set for NYC in early November 2025, was cancelled by organizers days before its scheduled opening after the Chinese government put pressure on participating filmmakers and their families in China. The cancellation was widely covered.

关于IndieChina电影节停止公开活动的紧急声明
这是一个无比痛苦的决定，但是我必须就IndieChina的现状对公众作出说明：
我并非处于害怕或者屈服而作出这个决定；但是我希望IndieChina电影节停止的声明能让某些不明势力不再继续骚扰所有跟电影节有关的导演、嘉宾、前工作人员、志愿者，包括我的朋友和家人。
作为首届IndieChina电影节的发起人和总监，我宣传本届电影节取消。除了其中的电影工作坊作为单独的一个活动，剩余的放映活动不再对外公开；少量没有收到消息而到场的电影工作人员，我们将仅安排内部接待，不再对外。我们已经关闭售票系统，尽快对购票的观众退款。
如果我不再停止本届影展，根据目前正在进行的事态，任何参与电影节的人士，无论是导演、论坛参与者、外围人士、志愿者，甚至观众，都有可能受到威胁或者骚扰。这种情况，导致我处于艰难的伦理境地。我无论作为组织者还是个人，都无意将任何人士导入某种危险境地，不管这种危险是事实存在的，还是被制造出来作为恐吓的手段的。
电影节涉及无数的参与人员和观众。这些人的安危是我当下首要考虑的因素。中止电影节的决定是异常痛苦的，也不是所有人所能理解的，但是我没有别的更好的选择。
我将开始继续联系参与的电影工作者们，向ta们解释当前的变化，并寻求一个妥善的处理。
我们本来计划的11月8日下午3点在纽约市布鲁克林100 Sutton空间的开幕仪式也取消。我们仅仅保留一个只供我私人朋友参与的内部酒会。该场地我已经支付租金使用一周，每天从上午10点到晚上11点，根据合同，我只能执行这个协议。我将此空间仅仅作为和朋友们作为私人聚会使用，以缓解这个突然撤销带来的冲击。我也希望有关人士能理解这种安排，并不认为这是电影节的延伸。
再次重申：本届电影节，组织结构简单，没有任何复杂背景。电影节的所有的资金，来自我本人，没有得到任何其它机构的资助；零星的网上捐款，至今一共没有超过1000美元。我个人作为独立电影创作者和策划人，不隶属任何其它机构，也未在中国或者其它地方加入任何组织。电影节因为系列变故，必将给一些参与者甚至观众造成困扰，包括经济损失。我们将在后续中寻找外界帮助以补偿因此而受损害的购票观众。本电影节作为新成立机构，尚未建立任何经济基础，但是无论是作为机构和个人，我郑重承诺严肃对待所有的事项，并尽力予与协助和解决。

In 1957, the Chinese government launched an “Anti-Rightist” campaign to crack down on anyone suspected of opposing the regime. The worst offenders were sent to remote farms for forced labor. This film documents a group of intellectuals who were persecuted during the Anti-Rightist Movement and exiled to the “Jiangnan Station” at the Malan Re-education Through Labor Farm in Xunyi County, Shaanxi Province. The five survivors who can now be found, all over 80 years old, recall the Anti-Rightist Movement at Xi'an University and the cruel and inhumane torture they suffered in the “Jiangnan Station” labor camp，and what they think about history now.

1957年，中国发生了 “反右派”运动，目的在于打击所有疑似反对当时政权的人，处理最严重的一批人，被发送到偏僻的农场强制劳动。该片记录了在反右运动受到迫害，被流放到到陕西省旬邑县马栏劳动教养农场“江南站”的一批知识分子。现在能找到的五个幸存者，都已经是八十岁以上的老人了，他们回忆了西安高校反右运动的发生，以及在“江南站”这个劳教营里所受的非人道的折磨。还有今天的他们对历史的思考。

Seafood Written & Directed by Zhu Wen “Seafood” was shot on DV and subsequently transferred to film. It premiered at the 2001 Venice International Film Festival, winning the Silver Lion in the Contemporary Film section. It was screened at the Youth Forum of the Berlin International Film Festival...
