Light of Life

Light of Life Revive – is a welcoming, comfortable space for women to have a time of respite, refreshment and connection.

Light of Life serves women who have experienced substance misuse, homelessness, sexual trauma and exploitation at our transitional housing program, the Light House, and the Beacon on Brook St emergency shelter and walk-in support center Our programs are as follows:

The Light House – is a comprehensive, 9-12 month residential program designed to provide women impacted by sexual abuse and trauma wi

th a safe, supportive environment in which to heal and recover. Light House participants build confidence and self-sufficiency through holistic, Christ-centered support, education, and skill building, as well as strong community connections with medical and mental health services. At the drop-in center, our goal is to build relationships and trust. Guests can engage in various creative activities, enjoy coffee and a snack, access personal care and other needed items, participate in support and mentoring programs and receive help in connecting to available area services and resources. Street Outreach - Seeking to connect and engage with vulnerable women, the outreach program is designed to provide opportunities for friendly interaction, to offer prayer, and to meet a practical need. Strategically located in a neighborhood where women are at-risk of exploitation and may be struggling with life controlling issues, trained volunteer teams walk the neighborhood. Sandwiches, snacks and bottled water are offered as well as gift bags filled with personal care products and various seasonal items. Each bag includes a card with an encouraging note and information about our programs. Education and Engagement – professional training is facilitated through tailored presentations for service providers, government agencies and community stakeholders with a focus on sexual abuse, trauma and exploitation, including human trafficking. In addition, a variety of events provide opportunities to raise awareness, educate, and highlight prevention for community and civic groups, youth organizations and places of worship.

She is going “over the edge” for Light of Life Ministries! As a non-profit, faith-focused organization, Light of Life serves the needs of women in crisis due to sexual exploitation, substance use disorder, homelessness, interpersonal violence and other traumas. The programs at The Light House address these issues head on through an intense, multi-disciplinary curriculum, helping women heal, stabilize and return to the community with independence and confidence, as they transition to healthy and sustainable lifestyles. Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you we are closing down the Beacon on Brook Street Shelter and Walk-in Support Center.

This decision was made with much prayerful discernment as we have been navigating some challenges in accessing on-going funds to support the Shelter.

We are grateful to God and to the City of Manchester for giving us the opportunity to serve in this space for the last two years. We have witnessed transformed lives, joyful reunifications, new relationships with Christ, sobriety, hope and so much love! We have also sat with many women in the tears and heartbreak, anger and desperation that comes with homelessness and trauma. We don't regret a single moment.

Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that every single woman (and child) currently living at Beacon will transition to permanment housing or safe housing by March 31, 2026 when we close our doors for good.

After March, our focus will continue to be on the critical work at the
Light House as well as our street outreach efforts in partnership with Bethany Chapel Community Church.

Please pray for the women at Beacon, our incredible staff and volunteers as we make this transition in the steps that God puts before us.

For His Glory Always,
Kristie
