So I posted the Georgetown South Community Christmas Chaos last week and pretty quickly took it down because of the hurricane relief efforts. Some people have made me understand that people who help with the kids' gifts still want to help, so it's back.

It’s that time of year again. We have 165 parents who have registered to receive help to provide a special Christmas to their children. Lots of things have changed in the ten years we have been doing this, but need is not one of them. Some families in Georgetown South have improved their circumstances and moved on only to be replaced by more families needing help. I am grateful there are people like you who care enough to extend a hand to those who need it. We asked parents this year for sizes in the event you wanted to provide clothes, although they are not considered a necessity by most of the kids. The children were asked to make a list of at least three things that they would like to receive for Christmas. Some got carried away and listed more. What I ask of you is that you get the child you adopt three gifts. If you choose to do more, know that it is not expected. The list is there to provide ideas on what to get a child who you don’t know. Bring the UNwrapped gifts to the Georgetown South Community Center by December 16th. Our Center is open weekdays from 8:30 to 5. For weekend drop-off we will have a very large, secure box out front. If there is any problem during any part of this process just call or text Meg Carroll (that’s me) at 571-264-3386. Here’s the best part, have fun with this. It’s called Christmas Chaos for a reason. Do you know how to speak basic English? Are you around on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10 and 11:30? Im sorry I am so late with this. I was waiting for the class supply lists. This is my annual back to school supply ASK.
We have 230 kids registered and our kids shop in a store we set up for their school supplies. It puts the fun in going back to school.
We need fun, sturdy backpacks that the kids will want to stuff with their supplies.

Pencil boxes
Folders sturdy ones with holes
Notebooks- spiral and marble composition all colors
Highlighters
Erasers- bar and pencil top
Scissors- safety and regular
Rulers
Crayons- 16 pack
Colored pencils
Thin and wide markers

You can drop off at the Georgetown South Community Center 9444 TaneyRd between 8:30 and 4:30 any weekday before August 6.

Impact by the Rotary Club of Manassas is organizing a "New clothes for the 1st Day of School Drive". What is that? Well, we all concentrate so hard on back to school supplies and I thank God for that, but do you remember the time you spent picking out your clothes for the first day of school? All I ask is that you go through your kids' closets or even yours or ask your grandkids to do the same and find the clothes with tags still on them on ones you don't wear and look like new. Or go to Costco, Walmart, Target, Burlington, Ross and pick up one or two new summer outfits so these kids look forward to that first day of school and to looking good on their new "to them" clothes. You can drop off your donations at the Georgetown South Community Center before August 6th. Sizes needed 4T to Adult XXL.

Don’t be reluctant like Cara here to get your tickets. Buy today. Did I mention that Mark Olsen is lending two shuttles so that people can park at Grace United Methodist Church and shuttle back and forth to Georgetown South Community? We’ve put a lot of work into this event so that those who attend enjoy themselves and remember it next year.

Due to some outstanding support from the following sponsors we have been able to reduce our ticket price to $50 for All you can eat TAPAS - a flight of tequila or two margaritas or two drinks of your choice plus a custom dessert. We will have music, dancing, a "crazy hour", Silent Auction, a Tequila Pull, and a 50/50 Raffle. Oh, I forgot to mention Adult Piñatas. All this and it supports kids' summer camps, adult learning, programming for our kids year round and we are trying to buy a 15 passenger van.
