There wasn’t a sport he didn’t like, but there were three in particular that he absolutely loved. He was Goalie for the Toms River Blackhawks Hockey Club, Attack for Stafford Lacrosse and Defensive Line for Southern AYF Football. His commitment to his team, coaches and himself were remarkable for a kid his age. He was unstoppable. On February 17, 2017 Parker was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia after w
eeks of testing. It was an unimaginable diagnosis, he was so healthy, he was still in the middle of his hockey season playing 2 games every weekend. We didn’t understand how this could be. He was admitted to the Oncology ward at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he had his first chemotherapy treatment less than 24 hours of his diagnosis. He had coutless tests, surgeries and treatments and never complained once. He was so strong and we were so hopeful - his prognosis was good. We would get through this and he would be better than ever. He stayed in the hospital for 5 days and was released to continue his journey as an oncology outpatient of CHOP. We had all of our ducks in a row. We had hope and we had Parker. Twenty two days after his diagnosis, on March 11, 2017, Parker unexpectedly passed away from complications with Leukemia. Our family was devestated, as was our entire community. He was a beacon on light for all who knew him. His smile would brighten the darkest day. He was a funny, charismatic kid with a heart full of kindness and love. He loved his family, his dog, his friends, crazy socks, flat brimmed hats and hot pink. We will honor him and his beautiful soul through his army, Parker’s Army. Parker’s Army is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in the memory of Parker Nork, an avid athlete, who passed away after a short battle with ALL Leukemia at the young age of nine. To memorialize his beautiful life, the organization seeks to raise funds through various community events to provide scholarships to high school student athletes, to help fund area youth recreational programs and hockey programs and to donate to help in the fight to cure childhood cancer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, your kindness and for loving Parker. The Nork Family,
Pete, Kim and Payton
