The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. Since 1992, The ILC has been providing immigrant and refugee adults skills in the Greater Boston area with free, year-round ESOL classes and more.

We believe in immigrants and what they can achieve, and we give them the tools to do it. The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. (ILC) of Malden, MA, is a not-for-profit organization that helps immigrants and refugees become successful workers, parents and community members through direct service programs and public education. Our direct service program provides free year-round English classes to immigrant and refugee adults in Greater Boston. The ILC further supports immigrants through the Public Education Institute, which informs Americans about immigrants and immigration in the United States.

In our upcoming webinar, we will be joined by special guest Ben Dumbauld, PhD, the director of content at TeachRock, an organization that creates curricula, student activities and more to bring music into the classroom. He will introduce resources to help you foster belonging, with a focus on immigrant communities.

💡 Did you know that the United States started recruiting Mexican migrant workers during World War II?

Agricultural guest worker programs like the Bracero Program are an often-overlooked aspect of U.S. and Hispanic American history. Our free teacher resource for middle and high school students uses primary sources to help students take a closer look at how the United States handled these programs and how language has the power to shape history and perspectives.

This resource, along with others in our Teaching U.S. Immigration Series, pair well with any existing curricula and any Hispanic Heritage Month activities you may have!

Dinesh immigrated to the United States from Ghana for better opportunities. He founded ThinkLite in 2009 while he was still an entrepreneurship student at Babson College. At ThinkLite, Dinesh and his brother Danny create air purifying and LED products and technology that make indoor spaces safer to breathe, among many other ventures. Congratulations, Dinesh!

🏆 MEET ANDREA IRIARTE DENT, a 2026 Immigrant Entrepreneur Award Honoree!

Andrea, an immigrant from Guatemala, is the owner of Molly's Bookstore . She opened her first location in Melrose in 2023 and expanded to a second location in Allston this past spring.

Opening a bookstore was a lifelong dream for Andrea. With her stores, she has created welcoming spaces for readers of all ages, with a diverse selection that seeks to foster a love of reading, learning and belonging. Congratulations, Andrea!
