πŸ“¦ Before Sunday: This week is Serve Sunday. We're packing 30,000 meals for Lifeline Christian Mission and writing cards for local teachers, so the 11 AM service will be condensed β€” short worship set, communion, and a brief message, then we get to work. The stream will be running, but this is a morning to be in the room. Come be the church with us.

The Psalms spend 149 chapters on hard things β€” enemies, guilt, grief, and long stretches where God seems quiet. Then the book ends without asking for anything. Psalm 150 is six verses long and says praise thirteen times.

πŸ›οΈ "Praise God in his sanctuary" β€” praise starts with Him, not with how your week went. If our praise depends on everything going our way, we're praising the circumstances

πŸ‘‘ Verse 2 gives two reasons: His mighty deeds and His excellent greatness β€” what God has done, and who God is. Even if He never did another thing for you, He'd still be worthy

🎺 Verses 3–5 are a list of instruments β€” trumpet, harp, tambourine, strings, cymbals. Different sounds, same purpose. Some of you sing, some teach, some cook, some show up early and stack chairs

🫁 "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!" β€” not reserved for musicians and pastors and people who have it together. If you woke up this morning, you qualify

πŸ™Œ Paul tells us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, and calls that our spiritual worship β€” which means worship doesn't stop when the music does

Jesus said He always did what pleased the Father. His whole life was the offering, and He carried it all the way to the cross. He didn't give God His time or His talent. He gave His life, and walked out of the grave so we could live ours the same way.

So this Sunday, bring your hands. Ask what God has already put in them, and use it. Praise isn't just a song we sing. It's a life we surrender.

We all want to know we're safe β€” our kids, our health, our job, our next scan, our next month. Psalm 91 makes some of the boldest promises about protection anywhere in Scripture. It's also the psalm Satan quoted back to Jesus in the wilderness, twisting shelter into a dare. Read it carefully and it never says believers get a life without trouble. It says something better.

🏠 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty" β€” dwells and abides; this isn't someone who visits God when the trouble starts, it's someone who's made Him home

πŸ›‘οΈ "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust" β€” He's both; a refuge is where you run, a fortress is where you stand. Most High means above every circumstance, Almighty means enough for every one

πŸͺΆ "He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge" β€” a mother bird over her young. They can't see the danger and can't fight it off, so they stay close to the One who can

πŸŒ™ "You will not fear the terror of the night" β€” notice it doesn't promise you won't feel afraid. There's a difference between having trouble and being ruled by it, and fear doesn't get the last word

🀝 "I will be with him in trouble" β€” God never says He'll keep us out of it. Daniel wasn't spared the lions' den. The three weren't spared the furnace. He met them there

So here's the invitation this week: stop measuring your safety by how quiet life is. Everything else can change β€” the diagnosis, the finances, the family β€” and God does not. That's why the name we sing every December is Immanuel, God with us. Jesus entered our suffering, went to the cross, and walked out of the grave, which is why Paul can say nothing in all creation will separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
