IT'S OFFICIAL! The Livermore Mercantile is on the National Register of Historic Places. This designation will prove to be an important step forward in the restoration and future use the building. Hopefully, one day the building will be a blessing to the community.
This huge effort to secure the NRHP listing was spearheaded by Ralph & Diane Thacker and helped along by Chester & Connie Baldwin and others who gave time, talent, and treasure.
As Ralph would say, "Let's keep the ball rolling!"

Thank you to Dr. Ralph Thacker for spearheading the lengthy application process which has led to the Livermore Mercantile being successfully nominated to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Chester Baldwin made a presentation this past week to the Kentucky Heritage Council for the J.W. Quigg Mercantile Building to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Baldwin met with Mr. Marty Perry, who is the National Register Coordinator for the Kentucky Heritage Council, and he spoke at their meeting on Friday. The meeting was held at the Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort.

The nomination passed unanimously after Baldwin’s presentation, and it will advance to the Washington DC board for review. The property could be officially designated as an historic national property by September. This designation will be a big help in the preservation process of the property.

More progress at the Livermore Mercantile has been made this week! We have POWER!
Everything is completed as far as getting electricity to the Mercantile. The new pole is up. The transformer I smounted to pole and wired in. And, the powerline has been run to the service pole and connected to the gooseneck going into the Mercantile.
This phase of the renovation will become a new commercial/retail space drawing more business to Livermore. What a wonderful opportunity for growth!

PROGRESS!!!
The new electrical system is being installed in the north section of the Mercantile. Our own Mackey Bailey is working on this project. This will allow for heat & AC in the building, and it will become a fully-functioning retail space.

The old metal lean-to has been removed, and the east lawn has been cleared, graded, and sown with seed.

The Grand Old Lady is looking better all the time, and it is exciting to see new life being breathed into her bones.

Let’s keep the ball rolling!!
