The Arrow of Light program is the final step in Cub Scouts before moving into Scouts BSA 🌟. Fifth graders at this stage are ready for bigger challenges, more responsibility, and a taste of true leadership. 🏕️ They’ll learn camping, first aid, citizenship, and teamwork while exploring adventures that match their interests. As den leaders, your role is to guide and encourage while keeping things fun. ⚡

This program helps Scouts grow in confidence and prepares them for what comes next.

Scouts from throughout Greene County and beyond participated in the Greene County Sheriff’s annual Flag Day Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday June 14th at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Over 75 Scouts, leaders, and parents helped prepare over 5,645 flags for retirement in a dignified ceremony. Scout AJ from Troop 362 did a reading during the ceremony and Scout Victoria troop 75 played Taps as the flags were retired. Scouts and adult leaders participating came from the following units: Cub Scout Packs 362, 69, 68, 74, & 85; Scouts BSA Troops 362, 269, 68, 85, 75; and Venture Crews 6685 and 73 (Miami Valley Council). Thanks to Tom Gross (Pack & Troop 362) for leading the Scouting participation in this annual event.

Last Saturday was Tecumseh Council, Scouting America's annual Cub Scout Fishing Derby at Camp Birch. While mother nature made it feel more like a fall day for Spook-O-Ree than a spring Fishing Derby Day, everyone had a super time. Largest fish caught was over 15 inches. Thanks to Mike Taylor and the Scouts from Troops 6 & 60 for all of their hard work and putting on a successful event.

As of March 14, we have 1333 youth registered versus 652 (more than double) at the same point last year. Youth are scheduled to read 572 hours versus 130 hours last year. That is four times greater. More youth are signing up for 30 minutes to an hour and that’s making a difference.

Here is our website that has weekly updates: Https://YouthReadSacredTextsWorldwide.org

This year, we are inviting youth of all Faiths and all youth groups to join Scouting America in reading their Sacred Texts. We will have Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, and other groups not in Scouting joining us.
