QUALIFICATIONS:
Member of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference . Interest in Hiking , trail building , maintenance , and management. Physically able to Hike , has passion for hiking,
Map reading skills. Enjoys working with people , good interpersonal communication skills. Telephone and email correspondence required for effective communication with Supervi
sors and Regional Representative. Positive attitude , able to delegate, and a problem solver. OBLIGATIONS:
Volunteers and staff of NYNJJTC rely on you to fulfill these duties. Attend Trails Council and Delegates meeting;
you have a vote in each. Develop volunteer leadership by nurturing and growing the contributions of Maintainers and Supervisors who are motivated and skilled to do more. Receive review and act on supervisor summary for trail problems ; guide Supervisors to solve their problems. Submit Chair Report to Volunteer coordinator as required and on schedule. Submit an annual budget to Regional Representative as Requested. Inform Trails Council President at once if you are unable to continue as Chair or need assistance. RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule and Run annual planning / work plan meeting with Supervisors.Include interested Maintainers. Communicate regularly with Supervisors , at least twice a year and as needed to support their needs as their first line of communication, information, support , direction and assistance. Coordinate and Direct Supervisors , including Trail Crew Chiefs. Maintain mailing and phone list of Supervisors / Club trail contacts and Maintainers and inform NYNJTC office of changes. Approve and submit requests for trail crew work after examining the cite and discussing with Supervisors. Maintainer should be involved in decisions regarding his/ her trail section. Coordinate requests for trail work with the Trail Crew. Approve with Supervisors all major trail relocations and requests to Trails council prior to presentation. Obtain trail change approvals from the Landowner. Follow major trail relocations approved by Trails Council. Update trail information for Trail conference publications and maps. Follow up with Supervisor that updates are submitted to regional Representative and database administrator once trail work is completed. Committment Required:
Weekly , and as required by Supervisors , for Problems resolution and for contact with partner agencies
Training:
Thorough familiarity with trail maintenance manual and Trail management guide
Attend NYNJTC Leadership seminar when Offered
ENcouraged to attend additional training workshops that are offered such as , Chainsaw, First Aid, Trail Construction. Be aware and know NYNJTC Volunteer Handbook and youth policy , in TMG and on the Web site
