The Moon is reaching perigee, its closest point to Earth this orbit, at the same time it becomes full — the Wolf Moon. This produces a supermoon, appearing noticeably larger and brighter than average, with moonlight intense enough to sharpen nighttime shadows.

☀️ Perihelion — Earth’s Closest Point to the Sun
Even as winter grips the Northern Hemisphere, Earth is actually making its closest approach to the Sun of the entire year. We’re about 3 million miles closer than we are in July, which causes our planet to travel at its fastest orbital speed, racing around the Sun at nearly 67,000 mph.

Harper’s Old Country Store in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, is a place with a story few businesses can match! It is the oldest business in the state still owned and run by the same family, and it has been open for more than 123 years. The store first opened its doors in 1902 and has never left the Harper family. Today, the fifth generation is still keeping it going. And from the massive front porch, you can see the beautiful "Seneca Rocks" across the street in the disance.

When you walk inside, it feels like time slows way down. The original oiled wood floors still shine under your feet. The metal ceiling, old shelves, worn counters, and even a cash register from the early 1900s are still part of daily life here. You can buy gas, hardware, snacks, local furs, and West Virginia souvenirs all in one stop. Upstairs, the Front Porch Restaurant serves lunch and dinner all year. This is real small-town West Virginia, and it’s worth exploring every corner.

I left a friends home in San Antonio and was going to head home in the Dallas area. I headed West going nowhere in particular just enjoying the hill country. I don't remember what road this is, but I topped the hill and was headed down. I saw this view and made a u turn, went back to the crest of the hill I had come over and took this picture.
