Congratulations to the Outstanding Undergraduate Returning Adult Student Award winners, Leslie Wright and Michael Rozier. Leslie will be attending the clinical rehabilitation counseling master’s program after graduation. Michael will be pursuing graduate study in industrial and organizational psychology.
The Uw-Madison Returning Adult Students award receives funds each year in remembrance of Annie D. Swenson and Lois Mathews Rosenberry. Swenson was the first president of the Madison AAUW branch in 1909. Mathews Rosenberry was dean of women and professor of history at UW Madison from 1911 to 1918.

Dr. Julie Underwood is the former Dean of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin -Madison and a leading authority on school law. She spoke to us about declining state funding for public schools, the lawsuit taking on our state legislature for its failure to adhere to state constitutional funding expenditures for public schools, and the resulting evisceration of our democracy. Among the worst victims are low income and disabled children, and children of color.
Julie addressed, as well, some ways in which AAUW can join in the Wisconsin Public Education Network. Many of our branch members are interested in holding workshops. The website is https://www.wiscon sinnetwork.org

We honor Lilly Ledbetter’s legacy on what would have been her birthday, as a tireless advocate for fair pay and workplace equity.

Her courage in challenging pay discrimination helped expose the systemic barriers that deny women the wages they rightfully earn and underscored the need for transparency, accountability, and strong protections.

That work is not done. You can’t fix what you can’t measure.

AAUW will continue fighting for policies and workplaces that ensure every worker is paid fairly and treated with dignity — the future Lilly Ledbetter fought for.

The SAVE Act 2.0 — poses a serious threat to voting rights.
This bill would impose unnecessary paperwork and photo ID requirements on voters, while dismantling online and automatic voter registration systems. In practice, it could prevent up to 21 million U.S. citizens from voting.
These barriers would disproportionately harm people of color, voters with disabilities, older adults, and women — especially those whose names have changed due to marriage or divorce.
AAUW stands for fair, accessible elections for all. Congress must reject this bill.
