With Memorial Day tomorrow, let us review its history. Memorial Day was originally know as Decoration Day, where mourners decorated the graves of the soldiers lost in the Civil War. In 1971, Memorial Day was made an official federal holiday honoring all the men and women lost while serving the U.S. Military.

We have nothing but thanks and appreciation for those who serve our nation. Many veterans return home with service-related physical and mental disabilities, 58,000 in Wisconsin alone.They face life threatening energy related emergencies, forced to decide between food or power.

At no fault of their own, these American Heroes struggle daily to pay for basic necessities such as food or medication as they fight to pay escalating energy cost. They are left with the difficult choice between buying food or paying their energy bill in order to survive Wisconsin’s bitter cold winters and blistering hot summers.
